Anyone have a favorite solid state multi-track recorder?

Looking for an 8 track SD recorder. Don't need any editing or mixing capabilities, or any builtin mics - just be able to record 8 (or 6) simultaneous tracks to an SD card in WAV format. I'll be connecting my console outputs (line level) to the inputs. I'm looking at a Tascam DR-680. It's the...

    File transfer question

I use the CD recorder basically because it allows me to review the mix on the drive home from the show. I'll look at the Edirol you mention. My next goal is to record multi-track so I can get better mixes in post. Looking for an expansion chassis like the Magma Express Box that would allow me...

    File transfer question

I suppose that's really the issue. Can you tell me exactly what you mean here? Thanks for your response and insights.

    File transfer question

Thank you both. I suppose recording directy to CuBase would be the ideal and then I could try a higher bitrate. If my output goal is CD (16-bit, 44.1, right?) you're saying that there is an advantage to recording at a higher bitrate. Why is that so? TIA

    File transfer question

I record musical theater productions straight to my Tascam CDRW-700 using its analog inputs. Live stereo mix right from whatever console I happen to be using. Then I import the CD audio into CuBase LE. (I own CuBase Essentials but I haven't even used it yet). Then I export my mastered mix to a...

    What monitors do you use?

At risk of getting flamed... I use a pair Yamaha NS-10A's with an old JBL Control Subwoofer (dual 8"). I bi-amp the system with the crossover at 90Hz (lowest my old Brooke Siren crossover will go). I use SmaartLive to optimize the response. I use White 4001 1/3 octave, rotary knob eq's and...

    Bass Amp Idea's

Consider this: THE Classic rock bass amp is the Ampeg SVT. That's all tubes baby.....that being said, there ain't no best, ain't no worst, it's all just a matter of taste. I love all 3 of my bass amps: Mesa Boogie Scout, Mesa Boogie Venture (both tube font ends with SS power blocks) and my lil...

Internet activation for CuBase Essential 4

I've been using CuBase LE for a couple of years and have recently bought the upgrade to Essential 4. Have not installed it yet and notice that on the box it says "internet connection required for activation" or something close to that. I've never connected my recording computer to the internet...

    Mac/Garageband Anyone?

Simple question about Garage Band Our guitar player has Garage Band and lives 200 miles away. I use Cubase. I want to send him tracks and have him record his parts and send them back for mixdown. Two questions: 1. Is it possible/easy to import mp3 files into GB? 2. How do you export tracks from...
