Hi folks:
Just switched to OS X and I since I won't be able to use this stuff for a while, so I thought I'd sell it and use the cash for other stuff until they become available for X.
The UAD is about three months old. Like new. I registered early so I should be eligible for the discount on...
Forget the moral argument as it has absolutely no value in actual practice for people who use illegal copies and software that isn't used often or for profit is sort of in a category that hadn't existed previously.
Bottom line is this: support the companies making software that you need. All...
The home recording boom is a beautiful thing but the marketing of the products for this sector of consumers would have you believe technology can replace experience. In other words, it creates an environment that permits laziness in the guise of "experimentation". Can anything be more repugnant...
"the bar is sooooo much lower now than even 5 years ago, but finished albums have to be better than they were 5 years ago...its rough"
Somebody needs a vacation.
Sound and Fury signifying nothing....
BlueBear says monitors are VERY subjective, jfreeman373 says monitor selection ought to be VERY objective. They both make good claims, but because they are looking at the elephant from the opposite end they assume the worst, and the result is needless...
Someone did in fact say this, Philip??? I emailed Soundcraft and was told that the direct outs were balanced too, but when I asked for clarification--as the manual stated otherwise--I never heard from them again. I've since emailed two additional times and have not heard a response. Weird.
The early Beatles recordings were mixed to mono and then, as an afterthought, converted to stereo. Mid-period recordings still saw more emphasis on mono mixes, until they were finally abandoned altogether for the final records. In short, the Beatles helped invent stereo mixes--and no one here...
No they are not. They are aesthetic judgments that are then analyzed and described in terms of frequency response. What we find pleasing about analog has been codified by the music made with it. You can't separate the two.
I think that he meant divisible into a whole number. Anyhow, I think appeals to nature are specious. Something is musically pleasing on a personal and/or socio-cultural basis. Human beings can train themselves to feel pleasure from pain. Our aesthetics are not tied to our biology.

It was the correct answer and 'nubs did a good job elucidating it. You folks still think he's a troll?
Anyhow, 'nubs, could you explain "domains" a bit more? First time I've heard this term and how it may be similar to digital quantization. What's interesting is the implication that analogue...
It wasn't the 1224 manual but the Soundcraft M12 manual which states very clearly that the direct outs on the M12 are unbalanced. Take a look at your manual to confirm this. How are you so certain that, in contradiction to the manual, the direct outs on the M12 are balanced?
Balanced? Really? According to the manual they are unbalanced. I emailed Soundcraft about this and was told that all i/o was balanced and I replied that the manual said otherwise, but never heard back from them.
