Valacirca - Bodiless Powers of Heaven

^ I think I'll settle with the tuning as it is since I don't think I can do anything else short of recording it repeatedly until I get everything perfectly. It works with my ears anyway and it seems like there are no drastic problems. "quantized BD downbeat"? I'll listen to that again later and...

^ Yeah, I'm not crazy about the drum sounds either, but I have to make do with what I have :) I'm not so keen about investing in better drum plug-ins since I'm no drummer and I'm not serious enough about this to go search for a drummer and collaborate. The early Pink Floyd comparison is both...

It's called a delay and it does have pitch modulation since I'm using an EHX Memory Boy set to a certain chorus depth.

^ Thanks for the comment. I really have to rework that first track with the workflow I used for the second track to improve the quality... It seems most people are commenting about the drums. Unfortunately, that seems like the area I can do the least work on since I'm using Drumcore for it :o...

Yeah, there's a lot to be desired and improved with the recording of that first track. I tried significantly different things, which I think made the quality of the second track much better --- at least for my ears.

^ When it comes to matters of taste, no one can tell anyone else otherwise. He doesn't like it, that's that. I was just figuring out where he was coming from. Why can't it be "He's sharing, period"? Does there have to be a goal beyond the creation of an album? I don't get what album art and...

Valacirca - Bodiless Powers of Heaven

That's exactly my point. Where was the explanation of it and persuasion to like it? If you'll look back at the exchange, Jeff made a comment and the only thing I did was ask where he was coming from, because obviously I would take the same comment and advance the discussion differently with a...

Valacirca - Bodiless Powers of Heaven

Hmmm... Firstly, no one said anything about being commercially viable, and I also find it difficult coming to grips with the use of the term "music that is worthy of recording well" because all music is worthy of being recorded well. The only question is if it should. I also think that it's a...

But jeff's comment said nothing about the tone or mix. What are you pertaining to? The point I was making was that Jeff's comment, which you seconded, seemed to be comment that was more on the composition rather than the recording. Thus, the reply was about what jeff commented on. If it was...

^ But isn't it important to use this part of the forum to gather advice on what can make your recordings better in the technical/mixing aspect more than on the compositional aspect?

^ While I appreciate the time and effort given to at least post on this thread, my gripe with such comments (while they are innately constructive) is that I recognize that my style of music is in the vast minority. That's why I initially asked jeffmaher if he was familiar with the bands I've...

Best Free Virtual Drums for Windows 7 64-bit?

Thanks for the effort though :) So far from my googling, the most feasible I've come across is MDrummer Small. Installing it now to try it out.

Best Free Virtual Drums for Windows 7 64-bit?

I just bought a new laptop, which runs on Windows 7 64-bit. I was previously using WinXP, and the virtual drums I was using there was Drumcore Free. Apparently, Drumcore Free doesn't run on 64-bit systems. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives I could consider now?

^ How familiar are you with post-rock/drone/ambient, if you don't mind me asking? Particularly bands such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Earth and Stars of the Lid? Thanks for the comments!
