    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

There are several monitors I crossed off my list due to rear-port designs... BUT, the Presonus Eris E5 seems to be one of the cheaper options with good reviews, front ports and some controls to compensate for being in proximity to a wall. The search is still not over, but the E5 looks promising.

    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

The CHP70 has Fo=72.3, Vas=4.7L, Qts=.52, Qms=2.3.... Qtc=.707 calculates a 5.26L sealed, unfilled box... seemd like an ideal way to diy a set of speakers with no ports, no crossovers, no nonsense, but nice enough to be worth trying. I looked at a lot of drivers and was about to give up on my...

    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

Keith: not trying to be snippy. ecc83 comment about unspecified drivers and speaker cabs and have I ever even read a dissertation... is what I was responding to. I am a beginner with room acoustics and the idea of treating a room to behave in an ideal way. I know the goal is to hear mixes...

Never claimed +/- 3 dB.... Makaudio CHP 70 in roughly a 343 cubic inch MDF box (roughly 5x7x10 internally with some allowance for bracing and driver volume), haven't taken any fill into account yet, but I know it is best practice to generally have at least a little. Box volume was calculated...

I mentioned 100 hz because if I build a sealed box, full range paper cone driver, it would have fairly flat response to 100 Hz, maybe 90 ish. It would still have some response below that, but not flat/full energy response as the bass frequencies would naturally roll off.

    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

Alright, in spite of the fact that I want to move into the room this weekend and get the new studio organized, I need to first concentrate on finishing the other half of the attic... not very glamorous, but it does give time to shop for monitors that will have more complete response as well as...

    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

Good responses, thanks. This is all still in the planning phase since I really need to finish the other half of the attic before I move music stuff up. I am probably about 2 months out from actually using the space as a studio, so I will keep looking at options for monitors for now. That...

    Room Treatment and Monitor Choice

2 questions in one, I will try to keep it short and to the point. I am almost done an attic renovation that will partially be a home studio/mancave (both playing guitar live/recording and listening-back/mixing). Dimensions are about 12x16 feet for the studio side, part of the ceiling is about...

    Looking for a songwriting partner....

here is an example of something I did recently where I did all the backup tracks and my friend sent vocals remotely. He had some effects on and didn't send a dry track so I just put them into my daw, ran them through the reverb bus and master compression, and set the level. His high (Chris...

    Looking for a songwriting partner....

Stephen, thanks for your interest. I am 47... also spent many years away from the music and have been back at it recreationally for a few years now. Do you know how u[load a wav file (prob from google drive) and drop it into your daw? What I have done for other remote collabs is give a stereo...

    Looking for a songwriting partner....

This, for instance is something I have that is just intro, then like an A part, B part repeated and an outro. If someone was interested in writing/singing over that, I would re-record and arrange in any way that might suit needed verses, choruses, etc. I could also transpose to suit a vocalist...

    Looking for a songwriting partner....

I was wondering if anyone has solid advice for finding a songwriting partner(s)... First of all, I am not in this to be "in the business" and anyone collaborating with me would need to be somewhat like-minded. I am an old dude who loves rock music, but I have a career and a family. For the...

    The Weight

hihat and tambourine sound a lot more natural to me! Maybe a little too much presence on the kick drum, split the difference, maybe. Overall this is much more organic to my ears, sounds a lot more like good friends jamming.
