Very old thread, I know... but a good discussion.
Does anyone happen to have the the photos that Harvey is referring to in the first post on this thread? The links no longer work. I'd appreciate a new link to them if anyone has them saved. -Chuck
I've heard good things about the CK-1 condensers. I hope Harvey has the oportunity to test them out. The price on the CK-1's is very good, considering you get interchangable capsules.
I am considering purchasing a pair of the CK-1 small diaphram microphones. I have heard some samples, but I don't have an Avantone dealer close enough that I can go to audition them. They are inexpensive enough that it may be worth it to just buy them without actually hearing or using them...
I'm looking for an inexpensive, but good sounding microphone to experiment with M/S recording. I have a pair AKG C-480's with CK61 (cardioid), CK62 (omni) and CK63 (hyper-cardioid) capsules. My thought is to start with one of the inexpensive LD microphones (with variable patterns) that are...
The M88 is a great vocal mic for on stage use. Let me throw in one more, the Sennheiser MD421. They look weird (or cool) depending on your frame of reference, but sound nice on female vocals. The proximity effect can be managed with an integrated high pass filter with three different settings...
If these are a good option, I may just buy them. With shipping to the states it'll be $13 for 50 pieces. Is that reasonable? Are these overkill for power supply bypassing close to bi-polar op-amps? I would also like to use them to bypass some large electrolytics used for coupling in some circuits.
Let us know how that works. I have aquired a bunch of parts to make the same basic design. But, I really need a microphone pre-amp I can use that runs on 12v DC, in the field. I don't know enough about electronics design to engineer a 12v power supply that will work with the INA217.
