Do you believe in writer's block?

I think that everyone has some excellent input! A little psychology, realism, and honesty goes a long way in a song. I'm in the middle of a songwriting binger right now. I'm surfing on fire. Awesome. Thanks for keeping this thread going everyone!

    Wittman Lockon OBT Tuner!

I recently purchased a Wittman MiniTUNER for my Wechter Acoustic guitar, and I was looking for a more permanent installation. I emailed Wittman about somehow mounting the tuner below or above the preamp in the guitar just like my Alvarez. Ken Wittman emailed me back, and offered to take the...

Do you believe in writer's block?

Damn, walkperson is on to all of us...RUN!!! I think that writing through it is great advice for everyday life, walkperson! My GF was having issues at work, you know the issues, boring job, horrible customers (she's an operator by the way), and just feelings of emptiness being enslaved to a...

How prolific a writer are you?

I complete on average 8 songs a year. I go through about 5 creative spurts a year. When I don't have a creative spurt as far as songs are concerned, I am gathering assets for new songs by living life, reading books, writing poetry, listening to new music (I don't like to listen to much music...

Singing and Playing at same time.. tips??

Moonis, I usually try to get the groove down. Make it feel natural through repetition. Sometimes words or phrases come to me, and I build off of those. I also "force" the lyrics into place on occasion.

Do you believe in writer's block?

Thanks for the props, Bilco! I'm writing a lot this year, as well. I've been in contact with an old aquaintance that is the executive director of a performing arts theatre. Acoustically-tuned room. Beautiful venue. I think that performing live is a great source of inspiration, but only if...

Singing and Playing at same time.. tips??

Hahahahaha! I use harmonica headgear...THAT would be a sight...although, it would make playing the harmonica that much easier! hmmm;) This is all excellent advice. It can totally be done. Singing and playing at the same time have everything to do with rhythm. Moonis 29, if you can play...

Define What Makes a Good Song

Robert Jourdain, Mus!c, the Brain, and Ecstasy: How Music Captures Our Imagination, William Morrow Press, 1997. Great read on the chemical reaction that you speak of. Seriously, this book covers a wide variety of topics, and insights into what it is about certain sounds that we like.

Do you believe in writer's block?

What? Does this thread have writer's block!? Whatmysay, I wasn't attacking you! Sorry that I made you write so much! lol We're all just giving advice here, good bad, and sometimes ugly. You remind me of college. In the way that when I was "attending" courses online, I really had to back...

Do you believe in writer's block?

Maybe we're not talking about substance abuse, rather we are talking about lowering inhibitions. I've always been rather mellow on the outside, but burning up with thought constantly on the inside so puffing the magic dragon or sipping some Gentleman Jack quiets the inner voice, if only long...

Critique My Mix - what I might need to work on

The mix and production sound awesome. The vocals are placed well in the mix for the style...I've heard a LOT of rap, hip hop tracks that bury the vocals. It sounds very professional...I have to ask...is this really you?! I don't know you or anything, but this could be released professionally...
