Hey there everybody couldn't contain myself, had to share. Finally moved into a house that has a basement so my gear finally has a home and I can finally start building a studio.
The tape machine is Teac 80-8, the mixer is a Teac M15, and the tape is Scotch 203, all three items from the...
MY pioneer RT-1050 is going in to be serviced due to a failed channel and some other trivial issues. While it's at the repair bench, what should I tell the tech to do? I want the thing quieter... not that I've noticed it being noisy, but I really want to know the output path has been gone...
If I make a tape on a pioneer 1050 tape deck with Teac AN-180 noise reduction, can I take that tape and play it back on my 3340 with AN-300 noise reduction and get compatible results? Can they be calibrated to the same spec? Thanks!
just received this machine in the mail. here's my review:this thing has more balls than I couldve imagined. It was set up.....mint....heads near perfect. I've seen such a clean old '70s machine with original heads. The housings of the heads are still shinny silver.
I did two track...
Hello everybody,
I just purchased an RT-1050 pioneer 2-track reel to reel recorder from about'75. Seller said the machine was 100% ready to go, callibrated and working perfectly.
The machine has the option to use large NAB 10" hubs or small 7" inch consumer sized reels, and the super small...
Are all 3340 Teac units (non-3340s) equipped to run at 15 ips... ? I've noticed some have small 7" reel units and cannot take the large NAB style reels.....and some units DO have the NAB hubs. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!!!!
I've read through the manual plenty of times and I gotta say....I think I'm too dumb for it.
I want to know how I can use the 16 tracks I have with the 80-8 recorder. In other words, how can I use 8 drum mics/tracks on the mixer and send them to only two or three tracks on the tape machine? If...
This is an interesting question. I have here a '70s Teac 80-8 set up for 456 but I'm actually using Scotch 203 from the '60s/'70s which is a 0db level tape. What does this do to the tape? It sounds fine actually...but does it mean the tape is getting hit really hard? Again I really think is...
Sorry to take so long to get back to this thread.....Lonewhitefly, thank you so much. You have no idea how much that means to me! I'm SUPER obsessed with using tape made in the '60s and '70s. I bought a reel of 1/2" scotch 203 and use it with my 80-8.......and honestly compared to newer reels of...
I'm very curious to know if anyone here can tell me or figure when scotch stopped making 203 tape.... particularly in 1/2" format...? Thanks...!
JOHN:)
As a longtime die-hard '70s tascam fan, I've always wondered how to date these suckers.
I know a lot of folks bash these boards as unusable, but I have a penchant for authentic '70s sound. I run this board with a late '70s Teac 80-8 recorder, a matching DBX noise reduction module, and a reel of...
