Im wondering what the pros and cons are of the Midiman MM-401 MIDI-to-PC card thanks

Im wondering what the pros/cons/difference in using a card like Midiman MM-401 as opposed to a simple cable that connects to the joystick port, for MIDI to PC connection... Im guessing that the card would use up extra PC recources (besides just a port)? but the cable wouldnt have extra features...

If the tip and ring of a TRS-to-mono cable were soldered together, could it be used to send/get a signal from a mixer channel while keeping the channel flowing uninterrupted ? (without having to return an external signal to the channel..) thanks

Ive been wondering if there are there any mixers in existance (old or new) that can return Aux to each channel (rather than just mixing the aux sums to the main channel ...) thanks

I have a Yamaha Tx81z synth rackmodule that is physically making humming sound (though not through the audio out) I tried out grounding the chassis to a wall receptical screw, it caused the electrical tingling to be lessened, but the unit still makes a lot of noise and really it shouldnt need...

Ive heard of a modification for the 688 .. adding a switch for turning the motor off, to save the life of the motor while not actually recording ... Id like to use the 688 as a mixer a lot without wearing out the motor.. Would it be possible to just snip the wire that the motor gets its power...

Im thinking of making a rackmount tower (for holding rack boxes..) using basically just 8-pieces of metal and/or sturdy L shaped rack rail. thought Id share the idea here.. I wanted something with open sides for easier access and for maybe placing things in rack that stick out further...
