Steve was born in China Lake, CA and grew up in the Los Angeles area with a move to the San Francisco Bay Area during the high school days. He started playing guitar at the age of 7 taking guitar lessons for about a year but then began to be self taught after that. Later after the college years Steve had the privilege of studying music composition and guitar and song theory four years privately with Jai Josefs (author of “Writing Music For Hit Songs”) and later studying in a small group with Steve Seskin (songwriter of hits by Neal Mccoy, Tim MgGraw, Alabama and others). Steve also got to attend a three day study intensive with Alex Degrassi in the summer 2004. In 2011 Steve competed in the National Finger Style Guitar championships in Winfield Kansas.
Steve had his song he co-wrote with Ken Klar – Come To The Table – on rotation with FM Christian radio nationally and a few songs have been used on various videos. Come To The Table was released in a song book and CD by Song Discovery (worshipleader.com) to over 20,000 churches. Steve has performed in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Nashville and in Oregon. Steve’s guitar playing was also used on a TV video documentary for the city of Cupertino as well as a number of educational videos. Steve’s most recent CD – Hymns For Guitar -has been on Pandora and iTunes for a few years.
Steve studied Bible Greek, Hebrew and theology at Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Also, CA for four years in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Steve has been writing
a Hebrew word study of the Psalms now for about 4 years and loves Bible study with the original languages.
Steve has released 4 CD’s while living in Oregon which include Hymns for Guitar, Wood, Northwest and Come To The Table. Steve’s Wood CD was used by Hewlett Packard and NASA for a sound test of a new satellite a few years ago!
