those behringers sound like dogshit. i had a pair of the passives once. jesus, they were unusable.
and i'm not a behringer hater either. those monitors just could not be used for monitors, plain and simple.
compressors are not for rhythm guitar playing. if you want a more compressed rhythm sound you must turn up the amp. there is no other effective way.
edit: wait, a 1960 VINTAGE cab? like, with Greenbacks? there's your problem. Greenbacks are low-wattage, open, midrangey speakers with early cone...
there's so little actual wiring in those mics, it doesn't make a difference. the "mogami" thing is just marketing.
the difference in sound you hear is probably due to the mics being made at different points in time. cheap chinese mics are much more variable than just about any other mic.
that...
please tell me those component changes Phil, because my 2003 sucks! and if the 2001 is anything like the 2003, it ALSO sucks...
i mean, seriously, i'd like to know. i'm handy with a soldering iron and i'm not going to get anything for the 2003 if I sell it...
thanks
if you can't afford a 57 and you want to dabble in recording, sell your PC and cancel your internet access. with that money, buy a couple decent mics, you know what i'm saying? the 'net ain't helping that poor bastard out.
i don't take very good care of mics. they usually sit on the stands they're mounted to until i need to move them.
i never clean my room or wash my hair either
so one could possibly infer that a 2db shelf @ 200hz , a 1db shelf @ 1000hz, and a 2db shelf @ ~4000hz would approximate a cheesy Dynamic Bass Boost control... might be good to know if someone wants to check their mixes for problems without tranferring the song over to a consumer audio device.
you'll have to do each song individually and adjust the multiband compressor settings as each demands. but yes, you can use a multiband compressor I suppose. EQ is also an option.
chessrock - is there any soldering involved?
also, TI offers 3 model numbers:
INA217AIDWR (16 pin)
INA217AIDWT (16 pin)
INA217AIP (8 pin)
any clue as to which model I need?
hey Chessrock - I read a real old thread you had posted on about replacing the SSM-2017 opamp in the Aphex 107 preamp. i got some free samples of the Texas Instruments INA163UA opamp from TI. can you go into a little more detail about how to properly swap these chips?
