Gibson is not a good company.

The thing I dislike about Gibson is the piss poor QC, and that they sue anyone that improves on any guitar that share one of theirs body shape. Most Vees and SGs are usually decent off of the shelf and given a proper set up. LPs are a different thing all together. I have owned around 25 of them...

How do I remove my middle and neck strat pickups from the circuit so only the bridge pickup works?

Chainsaw, hammer, and a sharp wood chisel should take care of it.

    Telecaster owners, help!!

I hate to break it to some of you, but the size of a persons leg doesn’t factor into a measurement from leg to first string. Also for OP, if you need to know this measurement you can look up the waist width of most any guitar, as well as width of neck at 12 fret. You can use this specs to...

    Strange Amp problem

Some brands seem to be better than others. Brand is probably not the best word, as it is my understanding that they are only being manufactured in 2-3 factories these days. The trick is to buy from someone that has a good reputation for picking tubes, or find NOS.

    Strange Amp problem

The old ones do, but much of the newer preamp tubes are microphonic right out of the box, if they function at all.By old, I don’t mean in the era these amps were built in.

    Strange Amp problem

Pretty sure the 12ax7 would cover both channels, as it is advertised as having a tube preamp. You should be able to get one at a local shop for 15-20 dollars. Worth a shot. As mentioned , some problems will cost a few just to have a tech find them, and often can be more expensive than the amps...

    Kind of NGD

Yes, I am aware. The modern stuff does stop gassing off after 6 mos or so, but it never truly cures.

Also wanted to add that nitro never fully cures I would agree that paint affects tone. I do all of my guitars in Nitro cellulose lacquer and apply it very thin. Never had anything but improvement to the tone as a result. You would need to see this guitar in person to understand the need for...

    Kind of NGD

The thing is, is this is not the original finish. This is a poor attempt at a refinish that someone did in the 80’s. They did at least use nitro cellulose lacquer. If anything, what I have planned is a very thin layer of Nitro. When I am complete it will be a lot less than what is presently on...

    Kind of NGD

The thing is, I always wanted the Robert Johnson guitar, and now that I have it, it is really bothering me that it doesn’t look right. Definitely going to play and enjoy, but I am pretty handy with the paint, and have everything needed to make it look right, so I figure why not? Won’t change...

Bought this about a year ago for $100. Wasn't sure what it was at the time, but after researching the batch number, realized it was @ 1933 Gibson L00, that had been refinished, and was a bucket list guitar for me. It spent about a year with my luthier , and I picked it up last weekHe repaired...

Nik Huber Orca 59. I have been craving one since foolishly parting with my NH Goldtop. Two of these arrived at my buddy's shop, and I was lucky enough to spend some time playing both. Decided on this on because I preferred the understated look of it. I have always enjoyed the sound of an LP, but...
