I love the cleans on the express series. Had a hard time getting a good overdrive tone, or atleast one that fit my style.

The problem I have with the combos are they are so dang blasted heavy. I have a Mark IV short head and a 1x12, and it is easy to lug around. A Mark IV combo would be a bear. The Mark V combo I have to believe would be heavier.

While I get your point, Mesa has gone ahead and taken it to the next level. You get great cleans and IMO better then modified Marshall drive. Besides, it's not Marshall's take anyway. If it where Marshall's take it wouldn't need to be modified!

I have played both in person. And I will give Carvin credit. They are way underated. But the V3 is not in this league!
