Adding drums without a midi controller..

Hey guys. I am trying to figure out how to add drum loops without a midi controller. I want to add the drums.. then play the song with my base instrument. Then go in and tweak the drums.. add fills or change the drum beat, etc. Any plugins that I can use to do this? Any tutorials out there...

    Hackensack recording..

Its not AS BAD when I play it on Sonar compared to myspace.. but its still not very vibrant.. I blame a lot of it on the acoustic guitar. Its not a good sounding guitar at all lol. Recorded vocals with a SM58.. but I thought they sounded alright (tone wise). But the acoustic is the biggest...

    Hackensack recording..

This is a cover of Hackensack. This is my 2nd recording with the presonus firebox. All the other songs on my myspace (besides the one that isn't me) was done with just the onboard sound card... terrible quality all hte way around, and was done about 2 years ago or more. Let me know how the mix...

Nice... so what kind of mics should we be using for the overhead? I can't remember what he is using right now.. but I know he is using some SM57s on the kit.. Another thing.. his drums are in a cage with a roof. He built the cage and I believe its kind of a permanent thing.. like its not...

Final stages of mix - lacking crunch. HELP?!

I agree with him as far as the 2nd verse vocals mixed better.. but my only thing about the vocals there is that I can't really understand a lot of what he is singing... mixed better.. but kind of lost in the mix at the same time.

Would that be the best way to go as far as recording the drums? He has plenty of mics on his drumset.. its just I only have 2 mic preamps available (4 if i had an external preamp).. And I think he has between 5-7 mics on it maybe. He is running all the mics into an external mixer, then 2...

Final stages of mix - lacking crunch. HELP?!

The easiest way to fix that is turn down the "wetness" of whatever plugin you are using on the vocals at the beginning and other parts. Then bring down the volume on the vox.. Except like the verses or whatever.. I actually find them to be hard to hear. Maybe you could bring the volume of those...

    First recording.. mixing..

Actually he lacks self confidence big time in his voice.. .mostly because his brother is crazy good. I think he is starting to get a little more confidence though. I'm thinking of buying a Presonus Firepod or something.. which has 8 preamps... then I could record the whole drumset, each mic on...

    First recording.. mixing..

Thanks. Well... He actually had more than 2 mics on the kit... Its just he was going into a mixer, which could adjust each mic on the set ( think he had 5-7 mics total).. and from the mixer, it came out in 2 channels. We just took 1 drum take and didn't work much with levels (time constraints)...

Ok. I bought a Presonus Firebox for $50 from my friend and another friend and I decided to record for fun... All we recorded were vocals, keyboard, drums, and electric guitar. We didn't have our bass player around. We had to record everything seperate pretty much.. and he tried playing to a...

    Just bought a Presonus Firebox

Being the dumb person that I am... I believe I fixed it.. or actually, there was nothing ever wrong I thought the bottom left knob went to Mic 1.. and top left went to Mic 2.. So I would always have the wrong one turned up/down. Hah. Tonight I plugged my guitar straight into the Mic 1 (just...

    Just bought a Presonus Firebox

Ah ok. I plugged my guitar into an effects processor.. then into the Firebox.. and the record level is still low. The good thing is that I can easily just raise the volume in the audio software if I need to. But does that make the sound quality lower when you raise the volume (add db) rather...

    Just bought a Presonus Firebox

So... When I am not using the XLR... It changes to a basic line input right? No preamps used? Therefor, the only way to get a good signal is using a mic preamp (if using 1/4") before the Firebox.. or something like a Pod (guitar processor)?
