Recording the vocals .... somewhere else

Rehearsal Studios Thanks for the responses. The vocalist will monitor the track from a stereo mix, so yes I am a bit concerned about not being able to tweak the mix for them. But I think I can work on that over time. Sorry for not being clear, but I will be using cheap downtime rates at...

Recording the vocals .... somewhere else

I guess there are plenty of home recordists out there in the same position as me ... able to do the programming and DI side of recording at home, but having to go to a studio to put down the vocals, saxophones, and other stuff that you can't get away with recording at low volume or through...

WTB a/d converter with 8 channels of ADAT out via optical.

Fostex VC-8 If you have another mixer with mic pre-amps, you could use a Fostex VC-8 ... it does AD/DA, unlike the Presonus which has high quality mic-pres, limiters, does AD only, and has about $1000 more on the price tag. http://www.audiomidi.com/common/cfm/product.cfm?Product_ID=2232

    ADAT to SPDIF converter?

    Sound King Mics?

The cheapest available over here in Japan are the SK-2 by Chinese brand "Sound King" I hadn't heard of these until I saw them advertised a few weeks ago.... they look like a RODE NT2, and are priced like a NT1, and they seem...

    Why shouldn't I buy a VF 16?

I'm about to take the plunge and get a stand alone digital HDR for home and occasional rehearsal room recording. I'm keen on the Fostex VF 16, but was wondering if anyone has been disappointed by the machine, or knows of any major drawbacks it has..

I'll buy the Akai DPS12i! No, the Fostex VF16! No, the Tascam 788! No, er - help!

I've been looking at a similar range on MTRs to buy and would appreciate some advice. boardman.... Why would the Fostex be your last choice? Green Hornet.... can you outline the major weaknesses noted in the article you mentioned. I don't have access to the Electronic Musician, and their web...
