No i wasnt. Just tried it while playing along with previous take and it was a bit better yeah. Still sounds a little sloppy in places, think itll just take some practise to get the filler notes as consistant as the ones on the beat.
Ive just had a go at recording the same part twice & its not come out to well :o
I say part, i mean entire song. Its basically a finger picked acoustic song & so ive played it both times with a metronome & there are small places they dont match up. The bass notes that fall on the beats are fine...
That link just what i was after. I actually use a RodeNT1A also, so that vid was useful for me. I normally just point it at the 12th fret from a few inches away, didnt know about angling it towards the soundhole etc. His sounds kinda tinny in the highs to, which i havent heard from mine.
Are...
Was just wondering about this, what would the effect be if you recorded it one time from the neck & then another take from the body position. To imitate the positions the mics would be if you'd just recorded the one take? Wouldnt you just end up with the same sound as though you'd used both...
Thanks Dinty.
What you're saying is along the lines of what i was thinking. I do already like the sound of it following recording. I tried to overdub vocals over a fuller track i made with drums/electric guitar/strings etc and the vocals just sounded out of place. Like they were sitting on top...
Are there any examples anywhere of proper stereo recorded tracks/guitar parts so i can hear?
Ive only just got the stuff i have now round christmas & right now ive a hard time hearing subtle differences so might be worth be learning a bit more before splashing out on more mics.
Thanks for all the good info everyone
Lots on everything i was asking about, very helpful.
You all explained it well, i understand what you're saying about slight timing differences, different sounds of the guitar etc Makes sense that redoing a track would create a similar effect through the...
Ill try recording the part again to see how that sounds. Right now my ears arent trained to notice this stuff to easily ! Should i place the mic in different areas for the seperate parts or EQ each differently afterwards?
I do have to spend some time listening out for the details & training my...
Hi, i was wanting to know the best way to mix recordings of just an acoustic guitar and vocals to get started really.
I only have one mic so im recording in mono, wanting to make a stereo type sound. Ive read on here that if you just duplicate a track and pan them both sides you're not doing...
Im looking for the same thing.

Theres quite a few on the M-audio site having issues with the 610, i was thinking of buying one myself.
They said it was an issue with the driver some 10 months ago & havent done anything to fix it. Theyve actually stopped updating everyone as to what theyre doing about it a long while back...
The Emu 0404 is one of the two ive narrowed it down to actually, everyone loves it...have you been pleased with that purchase yourself ? Another plus point for it really if it can come with a bundle of software to try out, good stuff.
I thought you used Sonar ?
Well not having any idea what GUI or envelopes are probably helps :D
Just from reading around really, ive heard quite a bit of music from people who've used Sonar and liked the sound they were able to get. Probably able to do that on any of them but made it stick...
Was just checking this and turns out some of the more expensive fl studio 9 versions do have it now ! So even thats not holding it back. Might get it, between that and Sonar i think.
