Hello revered home and pro recording people!
I am here to make gear inquiries, as i am updating my home studio. My current medium for "getting sounds to my computer" (haha) is a Focusrite Saffire pro40 audio interface... i really dig it, but i need an upgrade, better A/D conversion, faders...
Hey guys, im currently recording using the Saffire pro 40 interface. I really want to buy the Universal Audio 710 because i'd like to have one real nice preamp but im wondering how i would connect it to my computer. do i just run a XLR from the output of the 710 to an input of the saffire? would...
you can always EQ the sm57 and get that lower fatter tone. sure, the PR20 has a better tailored frequency response, and doesnt require much eq, but try layering (very carefully, mind you!!) 4 guitar tracks... 2 hard panned and 2 softly panned. you will get an ENORMOUS SOUND.
very carefully... very carefully.. if your compressing in your DAW, it doesnt matter if you $%#@ up because you can always undo it, but if you have a rack compressor, be very careful. if you overcompress then you have %#@ed your track.
i think instead of hitting x, just click out of the box. maybe 'x' locks it or something... weird. i have never had that problem
wait, are you hitting the x key or the little x icon?
Yes yes yes focusrite makes amazing products. but you should probably invest in an interface that isnt usb (focusrite pro14/24)
if you need a:
Condenser, i recommend the akg 220
Dynamic: sm58 (audix also makes some great dynamic mics)
Ribbon: (save up 170 for a cascade fat head) <- this will...
alrighty, you got the right idea, but you are a little off.
firstly, there isnt anything wrong with your pedals, but as to how you arrange them, thats entirely up to you. each combination can yield a different sound. i cant tell you what sound you are after, you have to find it yourself :)...
Cant go wrong with the 58. and for podcasting purposes i think an m audio fast track would suffice. personally i dislike m audio but thats because im interested in using those units in very different ways.
Hey guys, i thought we should get a good discussion about this, as I'm sure there are a bunch of opinions on this.
Also, what characteristics does a great room have?
Personally, I do like the natural reverb in my recordings, and my room is adapted for that.
