    A little Zevon anyone?

    Thank you!

    A little Zevon anyone?

Totally get what you're saying and you're absolutely right. Honestly, I didn't put much thought into the drums at all. The only reason I bought SSD4 was because my real drums are stacked up in a corner waiting for me to quit goofing around and finally setup my basement family/jam room so others...

    A little Zevon anyone?

Well that and I only changed guitars for those tracks - tele on the left, LP on the right - but same pedals, same amp, same mic, in the same exact spot. Maybe next time I switch everything out - at the very least use a different amp (hell, I have like eight guitar amps - I should use 'em!) that...

    Hypochonria

Totally diggin this. But I almost turned it off right from the intro - I don't care for synthy stuff, and with that synthy bass at the start, I thought this was going to be one of those songs the teenagers jump around to with the kick drum on every quarter note. I'm glad I stuck around for the...

    No Time to Say Goodbye

I think the mix sounds great. I don't think it needs anything. I know that's not much help, but there it is. Cool song too, I'd love to hear Cheap Trick do this.

12 St Station Blues - final mix?

I think it sounds great. good tones on everything, good separation. I think the bass could come up a bit but I'm a bass player so I always think that.

    A little Zevon anyone?

Hey thanks! Glad you like the bass track - that's the only instrument I play "for reals", so I'm happy that stood out to you. I originally doubled that lead part on an LP (the one you hear now is a Tele) and ended up pulling it out cause it didn't really add anything and just made it sound...

    A little Zevon anyone?

Thanks for the comments Chili! I wish I could play piano - it'd be in there if I could! And the drums were dumped to 2 tracks and then rendered to audio, so I can't turn down the kick without turning down the whole drum kit. I do have a little bass boost happening on the drums though, so I...

    A little Zevon anyone?

Thanks for the comments! That's interesting an interesting comment about the guitar panning since I didn't change it at all during the song. They're both at about 75% out and they stayed there. I'll have to listen again specifically for that. As far as top end - those are flats on the bass so...

    New song! Critiques needed!

Listened to it again. Still like it. I really like the dry, up-front character of the guitars. The one nit I would have is the part where the kick drops out, the cymbals are a little too much at that point.

    A little Zevon anyone?

Howdy. Long time listener, first time caller. Finally got up the nerve to show one here.... Drums are Steven Slate VST, everything else is me. Here's the first crack. Please be gentle. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1914208/LGM/Lawyers_Guns_and_Money_1.mp3 What would you do differently?

    I like this a lot.

13'x11'x8' room - Big enough to record guitars in?

Sure hope so - that's almost exactly the same dimensions as the room I'm building out now. I'm far from an expert on this, but I've been doing an awful lot of reading on the subject, so I have thoughts on the matter, but please don't base any big decisions on anything I say. I think in general...

My first try - please comment

Howdy y'all. I'm another "Not-a-Drummer". Just an under-achieving bass player trying to entertain myself in the basement. 10% of what I know about home recording comes from flailing with Fostex 4-track cassette machines and Radio Shack mics back in the early 1990's. The other 90% comes from...

Dat Ol' Quivering Yolk....(Just Can't Stop)

Love this. Turn up the bass though.
