    PA system...

Yeah it is a pretty small room but it works. Would it be better and easier to get a good sound if the room was bigger? If we move to the other side of my basement it's about, twice that size. The guitarist plays loud but not all the way cranked up. The speakers are raised a little less than...

    PA system...

We have a phonic powerpod 408 PA system. I believe the two speakers are 100 watts each. I can't tell you much about the guitarists' gear...this is all I know - our guitarist has a crate head and a marshall cab. Our bassist has some type of combo amp. We are adding a lead guitarist soon but...

    PA system...

Okay this is basically the problem, I'm sure tons of people have run into the same type of thing -- Our PA system isn't loud enough for us to practice with. We don't have a lot of money to spend on a new one, is there anything we could do that would be inexpensive and work better. I mean, any...

    Unusual problem with mic bleed...

hahaha yeah, he came to record guitar yesterday and i was like "oh man i dunno whats wrong with the AKG but it picked up no bass drum and the oktava picked up a nice bass drum sound." And he just looks at me for a second and goes "dude, cool it. i named the tracks wrong by accident." hahaha...

    Unusual problem with mic bleed...

Hahaha the problem has been solved and it's actually very funny. Our guitarist, who was doing to recording, simply named the drum tracks wrong. He accidently named the bass drum track "Overhead" and the overhead track "Bass". Sorry for the misunderstanding, if I had known that he misnamed...

    Unusual problem with mic bleed...

Thanks for the advice, I will have to try different placements then. Anyone have any good placements of an AKG D112?

    Unusual problem with mic bleed...

Okay, here's the set up we have for recording drums. The song is acoustic with occasional drum parts so there aren't many drums that are used - just a bass drum, snare, and crash/ride cymbal. So here's the way this kit set up is mic'ed... Bass drum - AKG D112 Snare drum - Shure SM57 Overhead...

    Recording Acoustic Guitar...

I need to record acoustic guitar for myself, at my house. This isn't a major project, it's kind of a just for fun type thing. But I still want to get the best sound I can get with the equipment I have. So this is what I have to use... - A behringer 8 track mixer - An AKG D112 - An Oktava...

    Tom mics...

I know there are a lot of really good tom mics out there. But I am on a budget for this home studio project and I was wondering what everyone thought of mic'ing the toms with sm57s? Also...does anyone have any experience using Audix F10s or Sennheiser e609's on the toms? Any inexpensive...

    Tom mics...

Thanks a lot Tim, that sounds really awesome. Would it make sense to use a Pro 25 on a rack tom and an ATM 25 on the floor tom, to bring out some of the low end?

    Tom mics...

Does anyone know anything about the Pro 25? I have no way to audition these mics which kinda sucks...

    Tom mics...

For a 4 piece set up, my original plan was to mic both toms with SM57's. But after reading up on it, I found that the ATM-Pro25 is supposedly better for bringing out the low end in the floor tom. So my question is, if I mic the rack tom with an SM57 and the floor tom with the ATM-Pro25, is...

    Drum Mic Set-up...

I'm looking for some feedback on this drum mic set up. Bass: AKG D-112 Rack tom: AKG C418 Floor tom: AKG C418 Snare: Shure SM-57 Overheads: 2 AKG C-1000S's (Any suggestions on a hi hat mic for a reasonable price...? Or would I be okay with picking up the hi hat from the overheads?)...
