I recently bought the Steven Slate VSX headphone system and I think it's great so far.
$300, but you get some nice cans as well. I was looking into small studio monitors and would have easily spent this much or more and would still be mixing in my living room or garage.
Pretty good so far with them. I have an EP project I am working on tracking right now, so I will let you know as I start mixing. But the near field monitors in one section sounds just like it's coming from my computer speakers, kinda impressive.
I like it more than the Sonarworks headphone...
Everything sounds great, especially the vocals and guitar.
My only nit would be that the drums are a bit too dry and maybe a bit too out front in the mix. Sounds like they are in a different space to me than the rest of the tracks.
I just got the Steven Slate VSX system with decicated headphones and software that makes it sound like you are in different listening environments.

Some free stuff offered here, have to provide an email but there is a De-Esser plug-in buried in there.
Also some royalty free waves and beds for video production.
Takes a few clicks but it is free.

I couldn't find anyone to sing harmony with me so I sang with myself.
Pretty easy to do with most any video editing software, especially if you are used to using a DAW.
Wrote, recorded and produced a jingle for this company and it turned into a voice over and video production gig as well. Not big money but fun.

When I listen to a recording of one audio vocal track inside Cubase it sounds really good, low noise and clear. When I export that one track a low hum is added to the sound and the level seems to be pumped up and the sound is very "pointy"
I have tried dithering, changing bit/sample rates...
