Need help with vocals and new mic!

What is "boxiness" characterized as? Maybe if I knew what I was listening to then I could find a solution to fix it. Thanks for your input!

Need help with vocals and new mic!

Yea, I feel like I've outgrown it a bit. It was my first condensor microphone. I got it when I was 15 or so. I just knew I saved up (what seemed to be) a hell of a lot of money to get it. I was so excited, too. This thing has been recorded directly into my old Dell computer's soundcard with a...

Need help with vocals and new mic!

Thank you for your reply! I'm going to try that. Would that deal with the brittleness that the vocals have? I want a thick sounding vocal that hold's it's own. Right now, everything seems so tiny.... really thin. It doesn't sound strong whatsoever.

A little jam, needing some thoughts

Impressive. I have always been a fan of the kick in rock. Everything about the guitars are awesome, but I'm a drummer at heart. LOL! I love this piece, especially the solem ending.

Do You Like (Or Hate) Your Voice?

I hate my voice. It's a bit strong. I have a generally deep speaking voice, so I tend to overpower a lot of things. I've been trying to find my medium for years.

Increasing fullness and decreasing cracking in a metal mix.

While I have no proper input about mastering, I just wanted to let you know that I was really impressed with what I just listened to. I thoroughly enjoyed it a first, second, and third time. Best of luck with finding your answers. I hope to hear more.

Need help with vocals and new mic!

I've been recording on an MXL 990 for years. With what little I know about mixing and recording, I was able to make some pretty decent mixes with just that mic, no outboard preamps other than my Mbox 2. Just a basic set up. After a summer of researching, I've finally purchased my first of a few...

    What would I need?

    That's really dope!

    What would I need?

Okay, so with that... Should I just upgrade to PT9 and buy another interface before I buy a preamp? Then I could use something that wouldn't mess with my (potential) preamp's quality, right?

    What would I need?

I kind of like my MXL better than my Rode... I think that's because I'm just comfortable with that mic, being that I've been using it since I was 15. (I'm 22 now.) I know what to expect out of it. I know what I need to do to bring the clarity out of the mic, no matter who I am recording. I'm...

    What would I need?

Learn something new everyday... I would have never known all of that or the definitions of each thing that it does. Thanks. So, if I buy a different preamp, like the PreSonus, would I bypass the Mbox or plug it into the Mbox? Being that it is a preamp in itself, why would it need another preamp...

    What would I need?

Yea, I've recently been looking at some stores on eBay. I'm in a buy, buy, buy mood. I just don't know what's right for me yet, lol. This is what I know: I need better monitors. Besides, mine are shot to all hell right now. On top of that, I need monitor stands... or a DIY guide to make my own...

    What would I need?

I just recently got into that. I've been looking on sites like eBay. Other than that, I don't know where to buy ANY gear other than from Sweetwater.com and Guitarcenter.com

    What would I need?

It took me to find this website to figure out what the hell I needed a compressor for and what the settings did. I still have a pretty novice, at best, understanding of it, but before I got here everyone I asked couldn't give me much information. I just got stuff like "You have to figure out how...

    What would I need?

LOL! I work in the wireless phone industry! I deal with obsolete everyday! If it's one thing that I've taken from this job is to just be happy with what I have. I swear I'll go broke chasing the newest stuff; although, audio gear is still a shiny new toy to me. It's just too expensive of a field...
