I think you should do both, but I'm definitely a YouTube fan. You just need to learn the YouTube game to reach your audience. But if you do, the potential to reach new interested people is helped by the YouTube algorithm.
Good luck!
Thanks for your comments and detailed observations. And yes the hardware still has a bit of an edge sometimes but the plugins are coming very close and are much more convenient for the reasons that you mentioned. And yes I agree, they're all very usable ;).
PS: I really like the Klanghelm MJUC...
In the other plugin versus hardware tests I did I noticed that the plugins and hardware controls often required different settings to get to a similar sound. So they sounded vastly different when using the same settings, but they could be made to sound much more similar when adjusting the...
Thanks for listening!
On the bass it is not actually speaker buzz but rather the compressor creating this buzz mostly by having such a short release. And the test was to hear the difference in how they create this buzz. And yes, the UAD seems to create it more obviously. And yes, it’s definitely...
Hi @CoolCat yes the video is completed. This forum doesn't like it when you post links to your own videos though so that is why I didn't include it in the post. The link to my YouTube channel is in the signature (only visible on desktop), or else you can search for "Lanewood Studios" on YouTube...
I recently compared my Warm Audio 1176 clone against a couple of plugin emulations of the original hardware and made a video about it on my YouTube channel.
What are your experiences when comparing this well known compressor hardware against software based emulations these days ? Clear...
I've just posted a little follow-up to my original SpectraLayers One video, comparing the results of the vocal separation to RX8 music rebalance.
What do you think ?

Yes I have room treatment as well, and then the Sonarworks software just gets me a little closer to flat. I don't really want to do without it anymore. It does give that extra bit to me and makes for a more enjoyable listening/mixing experience. I hardly ever use it with headphones, but all the...
I've been using Sonarworks Reference 4 for years now and have found it very useful. I recently installed the trial of SoundID Reference (the successor) and put up a video on my YouTube channel about my experiences and comparing it to Reference 4:
SoundID reference from Sonarworks, is it better...
I recently did a video on my YouTube channel on how I approach mastering in my DAW in a home studio environment. Check it out if you are interested. Link to my channel is in the signature.
Yes I did have a look at maybe getting an M1 laptop for video production on the road e.g. But as for desktop I wanted to use my UAD and RME PCIe cards again. So M1 was not an option there.
Just posted the 3rd and final installment of my DAW build 2021 adventure :-). If you have any additional tips about (re-installing) Cubase with all plugins I'd sure like to know for next time around!
