i think the utility program is just for assigning midi note numbers to the keypads. you'll need to have another program which can accept midi input to play the samples (such as reason/rebirth). great controller though once you get it working. good luck!

if you would like to use a loop or midi sequence from reason in cubase as a wav you can to go to file->export and export the sequence as a wav file. this essentially mixes down the reason sequence and converts all the events/voices into an audio track. once you have that you can just pop it...

get some of the mesh style replacement heads. the feel the closest to normal drum heads.

get a smaller mixer with xlr inputs to boost up the signal a bit. you won't get good results going from a sm57 to your computer directly.

yah definetly sounds like a mic is cutting out or your mixer is farked.

you can load your own samples into the reason redrum sampler and use that to sequence them. reason is an extrememly useful and intuitive program.
