it pretty much only sound like shit when knobs are turned -
in terms of studio foam what would you recommend?
if we get the A&H ZED mixer I think the pre-amps will prolly be better - unless you think the money is better spent on things other than a new mixer
Maybe another question I should ask you guys - What do you think is ESSENTIAL for this round of the budget given what we have? what would you put the most money into whats most important? A new mixer? an interface? What should I really be focusing on?
well - the BBE - my thought was sicne people come in there playing super low quality youtube downloads form their computer - I thought that was one of the only ways to even slightly improve anything. I know you cant shine shit - but are there any other alternatives other than just saying to...
What dont I like about the Multimix: Well the level knobs bleed like CRAZY - anytime you adjust the volume you get cracking. Also, it has horrible mic pre-amps.
Usefulness of sonic maximizer: Most kids come into our studio with very poor quality mp3 files downloaded from youtube that they play...
Hi there,
Im the tech director for my schools Internet radio station - we don't have an FM station. We just got our budget for the next year and I'm responsible for deciding on how it is used.
Here is what we do: On a daily basis students come in to the studio and plug their laptops or ipods...
Well - I went ahead and order the Alesis active MKII's today - should get here by Friday - and ill report back - like I said - if they turn out sucking I send them back and get KRKs.
Yeah I mean If I was going for longterm professional stuff here then obviously $300 wont get you much of anything in this industry - but the reality is Im not trying to be the "abbey road guru" here - I want stuff that will last me still i graduate from college (2 years) and if im still into...
well technically i don't have anything on the mackie because i don't own it yet - but i could buy it if it allows me to run balanced audio to my monitors. and yes it would have inputs (unbalanced ones coming from the compressor) im just not sure if it would translate that into a balanced out to...
the only balanced outs im sure i have is that from the Presonus. The compressor and midiverb have unbalanced outs. the mixer im not sure. Bottom line all i want to do is be able to use all the the equipment i have at my disposal at the same time. I know i can go from presonus to monitors no...
But the Mackie will give me a balanced out to the monitors? Even with an unbalanced in? (Ill be using very short runs for the unbalanced (1.5ft) at 97.5% shielding).
and yes Im aware I can buy a DI box - but if the input into the DI box is unbalanced and contains interference its not going to take that out. Id rather buy a compact mixer that I can use for mobile gigs instead of a DI box that doesn't have a whole lot of use.
Yes the short answer IS that I have them and want to use them. I don't do much of any recording its just playback. Could I go from the Presonus to the compressor to midiverb then to a mixer then back to balanced outs to my monitors? Will a Mackie VLZ compact mixer give me balanced outs even if I...
Thats true I guess a pair of Logitechs could go down to 30Hz but - we know they wouldn't be accurate. I greatly appreciate all of the advice and I think I will be purchasing the Alesis active mkII's in the next day or so -- at least to test them out - if they suck I send them back and try over...
