I began recording on reel-to-reel tape when I was six, fascinated I suppose by the sound of my own voice. I quickly became proficient in recording from all sorts of sources. I recorded Bill Cosby albums on tape using a desktop microphone (lacking an audio output on the phonograph). I took the tape to school for show-and-tell. It was his famous comedy routines from the album "Why is There Air?" The teacher was a fan of Bill Cosby, so I was thinking this will be a good thing! When Cosby's comedy routine was in full swing, the class was laughing riotously. "Chicken Heart" was their favorite! I didn't, however, quite get my head around why my 1st grade teacher suddenly stopped the tape during one of his jokes -- "Jock Strap" All in good fun!
I have owned many analog recorders over the years, reel-to-reel and cassette, mono, stereo and multi-track. I was trained in operations of the 2" reel machines during college at Michigan State. I founded TJ Universal LLC in 2006 to pursue professional multimedia services, both analog and digital.
