Was it the sonic character of the revox you didnt like? Too lo-fi? Or just that it didnt add anything special to your recording (but hiss!)? Just asking coz we all have different views on sound coloration. For info i have made a whole album on a tascam cassette recorder, a few years ago. And i...
Hi guys, first of all, happy new year! After years of mixing in the box i thought it would be nice to equip my modest homestudio with some analog hardware. Nothing too expensive since i just can't afford high end gear, everything i buy have to be 400/500euros maximum (second hand price) and most...
Friend of a friend...i never met the guy haha. And i appreciate getting feedback from people all around this crazy world on this kind of forums and have a chat...oh nerdy me ;-)
Ok, thanks for the correction. If it brings latency then it doesnt sound very workable....in your case it was both playing and recording tracks, on 2 apps, right? Do you think "only" recording via one app would bring latency too?
First of all i'm not a drummer, not really, i own a small place where i have all my musical gear and some friend of a friend left a whole drum set (mapex v series) here 5 years ago ...so basically i've been playing a bit of drums these past years, mainly goofing around, occasionally recording...
Thanks! Another poster told me it puts too much strain on the mac cpu -because it has to manage 2 devices at once- can you confirm that? Or do you have a more positive experience?
thanks for your reply! ok so everything should work fine haha. As for the 2nd SSL2 it's just that i could get it real real cheap (around 100/140euros). But yes i'm still hesitating and I understand your point of view! But this aggregate stuff is intriguing, i'd really like to know how it works...
As i mentionned in another thread i'm looking to upgrade my audio interface from 2 inputs to 4 inputs. I own a SSL2 right now and i'm probably gonna buy a SSL12 sometime soon....here's the silly question : i own a macbook air m1 and use garageband, the SSL2 is "plug and play", never had any...
Well, 8 tracks would obviously be better but i'm not too sure i need it right now. I quite enjoy minimalist mik'ing : 1 mono overhead, 1 kick and 1 snare, i like the immediacy of it. And there's still 1 track left for a little extra depending on the song (floor tom or beneath the snare, or room...
I've been using an SSL2 audio interface for the past year, i really like it a lot but i feel a bit restrained when recording the drums. 4 xlr mic inputs would be a better choice for me. So i thought i could resell the SSL2 and upgrade!
Since i was satisfied with the SSL2, i assume i should get...
Interesring replies...thanks. of course just like a fender and a marshall amp wont have the same sound, one should just look for something that suits them and achieve the sound they're after. In my case i'm not looking for a perfect replica of this or that piece of old vintage gear. It's just...
Well of course when i say "warmth" i mean the distinctive sound of analog, call it the way you want, if there's a better word, good. I'm not saying it's better or worse than digital, just down to preference. Generally speaking my taste is more lo-fi than hi-fi. I like the grain of 70s italian...
