    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Been a hot minute since posting and recording much. Dusted off the 388 and whipped up a quick little stalker-ish tune just to check the sound

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Okay, thanks. Upon watching again, I heard the part about him waiting for a replacement. I’ll try and pay attention next time. 😁 The parts that I got were the first ones you linked for each transistor. I guess all I need now is some heat sink compound. That’s readily available localy.

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Just came across this video. A guy refurbishing a 388. He starts off his video with the power supply. It's the same version 2 one that Im going to recap. Im also going to replace the transistors by the heat sink. Now, he is saying that the pins on the transistors are pinned out differently on...

    Tascam 388 power supply question

@sweetbeats Do you think these would do, they are in stock This power transistor is rated at 80v, would that be ok? https://secure.sayal.com/STORE2/View_SHOP.php?SKU=254717 As for the other transistor, Im not sure what Im looking at when I browse this page. Is there anything on here that...

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Awesome. Thanks again Sweetbeats! I'll have a sniff around the store to see if I can pick out the parts. If not, I'll have to order from Mouser again. And thanks for the soldering tip too.

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Could you recommend or point me in the direction of what transistors I need to replace those two? I do have an electronics supply close by with racks of transistors, but I wouldn't know which ones to get. It seems a little different than picking out capacitors, which are easier to identify for...

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Cool. Thanks for the info. Im gonna replace those transistors. Is it just the first numbers on the part that has to match? The Transistor has C1815 GR6D on it. I looked up those parts but Im getting just the first part of the number C1815 with a different number on the end. Would this be...

    Tascam 388 power supply question

Thanks Cory. The # on this one is 52101739-02 But upon closer inspection, I just noticed the small transistor behind the heat sink looks to have some scorch marks around the base of it. And on the other side of the card where the solder joints are is showing the same. I didn't order that part...

    Tascam 388 power supply question

I have a Tascam 388 set up in my home studio. I came across a spare power supply card that I had laying around, so I decided to order all new caps for it to recap. Still waiting on the caps to arrive. I thought I'd recap this spare PSU being that it's already out of the machine and swap it in...

Akai MG1212, MG1214 wireless remote alternative found ???

Soooo, I went out to a few thrift stores today and spotted a box in the electronics section of the store. It had a New old stock label put on by the store and the product inside is an Alpine RU-20B wireless remote control unit for cassette decks. When I opened it up, the first thing that came...

NOS Ampex 2 inch tape. Thrift store find.

Was browsing at the Thrift store today and saw a familiar looking grey box peeking out from under some junk. Pulled it out and it's a NOS reel of Ampex 456 2 inch tape. The reel is still sealed in the plastic. I ended up buying it for the hell of it. It cost me $20. It's most likely sticky...
