What do people use as a click track with analogue set ups?

call Dr. Beat! Any metronome should do though, they should all have an 1/8" output for headphones. Earbuds (not too loud) under the main cans work well.

    How to match drums up?

    Not impossible, just impractical. :)

A recording technique question of sorts..

If you have a spare channel, you can set up a mult by sending the vocal out the aux send (pre-fader) into the line in of another channel, and adding the reverb to that new channel's aux. Make sure you do NOT have the group switch on for that new channel, but you DO have the ST switch on.

A recording technique question of sorts..

What DAW are you using? You can set up the reverb send as normal, record, then change it or remove it later. The reverb doesn't get recorded with the vocal, it is applied in real time by the software, and it's always adjustable after the fact.

    Recording a "growly" bass

Thanks, I never thought about doing it that way. Should definitely help in the heaviness department.

    Getting the right bass sound

In addition, pick way towards the bridge. The orange dunlop gives a bit of that scratchy sound. I'm not sure about the flatwounds, I've always gotten better "punk" sounds from really bright roundwounds like the DR hibeams.

How do I keep my DI bass track from being so...

The best thing I've been able to do with bass is ignore how it sounds on it's own. I'll never solo it, but I will solo the other instruments to find out which frequencies are getting masked. I'll cut the bass out quite a bit to make room for the guitars, or vice versa. It depends on what...

Dry drum sample in a treated by semi-live room

Not bad. I think the kick sounds fine, but the snare sounds like it's in a small box. I'm not sure if the snare sounds like that in your room, or if there are other things going on. Have you done any sort of processing to the kit, or is this a raw recording?

    Reccomendations For Metal/distortion

I've gotten some really nice sounds by using both an sm57 and an md409 on the same speaker. The 57 has that really aggressive attack (there's a spike around 2k in it's frequency response) and the 409 fills in everywhere else with a really "smooth" sound. Track that a bunch of times and pan them...

    compression during mastering

Nope, not even analog will help you here. Your volume knob will though.

    Recording Acoustic guitar

I've gotten consistently good sounds miking the part of the body next to where it connects to the neck. The center of that part of the guitar has the most "tone", IMO. Put the mic a foot or two back and you should be golden. YMMV

Miley Cyrus song - Using Autotune?

It sounds like a combination of autotune and a dozen different takes edited together. But it works with the song, so who cares?

Trying to get huge guitar tone - KORN cover - 6 heavy guitar tracks - please listen

To get that huge sound with what you have, make some changes to the Toneport patches. Make one kind of trebly, one kind of bassy, use different amp models, etc.

    Getting a new tube amp

What type of overdrive are you looking for? Could you give examples of artists whose tones you like? Any amp will have a good overdrive for some type of music, even those cheapo SS amps. It's a matter of matching the sound you want with the right amp. Are you getting this amp for bedroom...

    Phase question

If I have two mikes on a subject facing opposite each other, I'll invert polarity on one of them, see if it sounds better, then switch it back if i doesn't. It's a common misconception that you have to flip polarity on one of the mikes if they're facing each other. Only do it if it sounds good...
