    Just got a MOTU M4..

Haven't recorded with it yet, but, playback of any audio source with headphones sounds....exactly like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 I had it before it. LOL...I'm sure it will perform well recording...I've heard it has very low latency. My biggest like is the fact it has 2 sets of speaker outputs...

    What DAW are you using?

It literally stuns me how Cakewalk is not the tripled over favorite...it looks SO much more polished, pro and sophisticated and has an enormous amount of power. Cubase being neck and neck maybe. Just amazes me, otoh, everyone probably just got used to whatever they were using and that is their...

parts shopping / DAW can only use a single cpu core at a time?!?!

I wonder if that could be an indicator that maybe it really doesn't use all the cores for certain things...anyway, for me doing the 'one man band' thing, I always have soft synth drums and some keyboard or synth tracks going plus, whatever FX I may be using, so maybe he's referring to the cpu...

parts shopping / DAW can only use a single cpu core at a time?!?!

Its actually the 2700X , ..is the gain from the 3700 pure CPU core speed? I ask because quite honestly, even my ancient Intel i5 quad core at 2.667 ghz worked beautifully for even heavy track load songs with a fair amount of plug in FX and soft synth drums, keyboards etc, so I'm inferring...

parts shopping / DAW can only use a single cpu core at a time?!?!

Wow this is interesting to hear ....maybe it was a limitation of Cakewalk Sonar for using all cores...I'll see if I can find the video where I got the info from and post it in here....

parts shopping / DAW can only use a single cpu core at a time?!?!

I read somewhere that having a cpu with multiple cores is all but useless for most of the things your DAW will be doing like recording tracks and adding software FX and instruments.....This seemed odd to me, then I remember seeing my older Intel i5's 4 cores displayed in Cakewalk SONAR and now...

Any considerations for adding a sub-woofer?

I just got a new pair of KRK monitors with a 5" woofer. They are making me miss extended low end of the Yamaha HS-8's that I elected not to rebuy due to the $$ difference...I like everything about these KRK's except the less low end. I'm in about a 20' by 15' or so small room...KRK makes...

Behringer UMC 404 versus Presonus 68?

Huge price gap between these two audio interfaces...$99 for the Behringer, $299 list for the Presonus 6/8 , which is just about to be released I think....pretty similar specs,..similar I/O's....Behringer has the inserts... the one thing I like about the Presonus, is the nice segmented meters...

    1 guitar, multiple amps preamps

Again, it's NOT about spontaneously switching on the fly...This isnt' a performance...But I know from past experience having to stop playing and tear down a mic'd amp or replug a bunch of junk interrupts my flow ....I want to be able to sit down, and have all options at my fingertips at all...

    1 guitar, multiple amps preamps

The tube amp head , two combo amps, and all pre-amp level devices would all have a cable going into their respective input jacks and the other end of those cables would go into the backside of the patch bay....the amp head would then have it's output jack ran to the cabinet input , nothing...

    Ride the faders

possibly not...but I'm going for an 80's hard rock sound and I have the right basic tone but adding doubled guitar parts does make it thicker and punchier and not as anemic as a single stereo pair...I'm a novice mixer though, so what an accomplished engineer might get with smart us of EQ and...

    1 guitar, multiple amps preamps

as good a reason as any! Me, I love THAT idea but also....I really don't know what MIGHT work best for any given situation...sure, I know in my HEAD beforehand what each device can do, but you can never really be certain how it will work in a mix until..as I like to do...you jam along with your...

    Ride the faders

How often do you do it? In a dense mix of quadruple tracks guitars, bass and drums in a rock tune that has that going on for about 8 bars before the vocals come in..do you subtley drop the bussed guitars down in volume to make room for the vocals to stand out?....Speaking of which, how do you...

    1 guitar, multiple amps preamps

Oh I VERY much do...You can very clearly and almost instantly hear what works and sits better in a mix as you're tracking when you can flip between them near instantly and spare yourself having to record them one at a time, plus, I do things very spontaneously ..one second I want to have a...
