How do you use Antares Autotune 3 effectively?

I hate saying one program is better than another. But as a 4 year user of Antares autotune software, I have found Melodynes to be....easier to use, and more practical. Melodyne also has a mono version just released for I believe 200.00. Demos are available at their website. On another...

non-usb MTPAV compatible with Windows XP?

Im building a new PC. Will my old MOTU MPTAV (non-usb) operate properly under Windows XP? If not would it work under Windows 2000? I tried to find this info in the MOTU website but couldnt. And their tech support is almost non-existent...at least for PC users.

will a 10,000rpm hard drive work better?

Thanks for the responses. So a 10,000rpm drive wont increase performance and I should be looking out for a Seagate.

will a 10,000rpm hard drive work better?

I’m preparing to have a new PC built for digital audio recording only. I have a few questions. I still use VST32 and dont see the need to go to SX. I like the way the midi functions work in VST32 and I’m happy with the sound quality. I would probably go to Nuendo before SX if I had to...

    Volume adjustment in Wavelab

Audio Montage is for working with individual tracks, so why not use it? Its very easy to learn.....as long as you have the manual.

    Using a Limiter

Perceived loudness will come from COMPRESSION not LIMITING. Sure you can just crank an L-2 and make it loud. In most applications it will also sound like crud if you really give it a good hard listen. (unless you are just dealing with a few peaks and maybe not more than -3db ) Learn how to...

    normalize, or not to normalize

I think Trogdor made it clear. I have also heard Normalizing can degrade sound quality unless you are in the 32 bit floating point realm. Somewhere I have a 2 page explanation. I also think its worth remembering that just because software or hardware includes a normalization function, that...

why can't I master my own stuff?

I agree. After reading all this there is nothing new in this thread about mastering.... Something I would love to see happen, but probably close to impossible, is give a guy like Bob Katz or any pro mastering engineer just the Waves Mastering Bundle. Then lets see how much of this is...

    behringer sucks?

Behringer Bashing these days has sort of become a lost art. It started years ago, and it was so vogue and fun to do. But times change and now Electronic Musican Magazine has given huge praises to their new digital mixer. Other reviews say the same things. I was thinking that one of the...

    Normalising is good?

Does 32 bit floating point calculations introduce rounding errors? I read something that once said if you worked in this realm there should be no problems with normalization. I wish I could find the article as it seemed pretty convincing.

    Mastering - Modern Rock Music

Thanks Masteringhouse I just want to thank Masteringhouse for NOT including Ozone and explaining how it is just as good or better than Waves Mastering Tools! Oh, maybe its not a "tool" but those big custom speakers are usually important too.
