The title of the thread is "good guitar?"
I dont see where the thread is limited to acoustics.....
He also says he is buying his "first" guitar - That usually means he doesnt have one already.... at least in English.
I also said if he had his heart set on an acoustic, I agree...
Now, if you have your heart set on an acoustic, then I agree with everything that has been said here already. Take a buddy that knows something about acoustics to help you pick a good used one. Play a bunch "side by side" one after another. Youll start to hear a difference.
I realize this is...
In words of Nigel Tufnel: The "sustayne" listen to it......well you would if it were playing....
Nigel Tufnel: Look... still has the old tagger on it, never even played it.
Marty DiBergi: [points his finger] You've never played...?
Nigel Tufnel: Don't touch it!
Marty DiBergi: We'll I wasn't...
Thanks to all for advice-
No midi devices being used-
Except for the wav drum tracks which I cut and paste into cubase, everything else is analog guitar, bass, mic through the Lambda
The cubase has acted a little funny since I installed it and the lambda software. Everytime I open cubase, I...
The advice about isolating which component in the chain is causing this is the best.
However, my Tele was doing that and it was a combination of dirty selector switch and bad tone pot.
Cleaned the switch put in a new pot and no fade in and out anymore
Here are the specs on my computer
INtel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
T7500 @2.29GHz
2.19GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM
Windows XP
So, I am thinking my computer is up to par. ??
I am running the Cubase LE4 that came with my Lexicon Lambda interface.
When I get about 5 tracks into a project, whatever I record...
I searched the old threads and not being that tech savy, I was not really able to gleen anything that helps me with my issue.
I loaded CubaseLe4 that came with my Lexicon Lambda interface on my Dell running XP. It has a Pentium "something" processor (as I said not that savy).
Every time I...
I agree that Tubes are the way to go.
Everything sounds better through a tube amp. Guitar and harmonica.
I have a 1966 Sears Silvertone tube amp which helps to provide a really nasty harp sound and a Fender Deluxe that is about as versatile and yet basic as a tube amp can be.

Gibsons have stood the test of time. I have played my '71 SG since 1973 (manufactured at a point when their quality control was at a low) and if anything it has gotten more sweet sounding, and looking, over the years.
Owning a Gibson is like owning a luxury car. Are there car models out...
I have found a few on Youtube -
I have also found quite a few simply google ing "jam tracks free" or "backing tracks free"
here is a free one I use which has alot of blues which I play, but also has rock, funk, reggae, and country http://www.freejamtracks.com/
I can relate to all of the comments here. I always though,,,"how hard can it be?" Then I realized it is a mindset. I am a guitar player who owns a bass that I use for recording "scratch" bass parts. Then I bring in a real bass player to play the real bass parts (although I am getting better)...
This guy is in St. Louis and builds these for $12,500.

He actually has sold about 5 of these.
His son is 14 and is "phenominal" - was featured on Channel 5 and has played with Andy Timmons and Rocky Athas

clearly I am an SG guy - But from what you say regarding the tone you are looking for, you might try a Firebird. Both the Epiphone and the Gibson versions are good and the mini humbuckers are brighter than most of the SG or Les Paul tones. Some have been able to get considerable twang out of...
I have heard some on this forum talk about removing finger "squeaks" from guitar tracks (I realize there are some squeaks I may want to leave in for realism and artistic reasons , especially acoustic, but let's say I have some I want to get rid of...). How do you all do that?
I have used...
Thanks to all for their technical advice and opinions.
Basically, I have been recording at home for several years, on a TASCAM 244 which uses cassettes and the 4 tracks Side A R&L and Side B R&L all going one way. Tracks can be bounced to add more etc.
The 244 has a built in mixer with EQ...
