Do you run a card with a VIA chipset?

I have a Apollo Pro chipset with a Pentium 3 550E and a Delta44, it seems to work perfectly at 24b/48k but i get unbearable pops/clicks at 24b/96k. pratt, how did you get it working?

    What mixers can/can't do

well the only way i can think of to do that sort of thing is to get 8 different reverb units and an 8-buss mixer. then you use the insert channel on each channel for reverb. you assign each channel to a seperate buss, then have each buss go out to a different soundcard channel, there's probably...

    SB LIVE-can't access mixer

go to the normal Windows mixer (double-click the little speaker at the bottom right corner of your screen), click options, properties. Then go to "select input for Recording" and make sure all the boxes are checked. then push ok and select the correct input you want.

What should I mic the kick with?

just boost the 4K a lot, and cut the really low out a fair amount. that should give you a good sound. i basically have to do that regardless of what mic i use. also, position the mic so that it's farther away from the drum head. the bass and resonance can kind of overwhelm a mic when it's...

recording 24-bit files with 16-bit soundcard

I think what he's asking is if he can have 24-bit files with only the original 16-bit audio in them, so they'll stack up better to effects and processing. This IS possible. Just record in 16-bit, and before you change the audio file in any other way, use a program like Cool Edit to convert it...

A bass frequency to great, a bass frequency too unbalanced.

soundcard if you really want to test the soundcard, go to windows volume control, and advanced properties under master volume, then crank the bass all the way up, and listen in the headphones again. then you should be able to hear it in order to determine if that's the problem.

    which soundcard for this:

    Delta66 would probably be good.

    CDRW vs CDR

uh you're right, magnetic fields cannot affect them, but I read this big write-up on how CD-RW's are way less stable than CD-R's. Apparently they last far less amount of time, due to the fact that the reflective surface is very fragile and starts to break down very quickly. They don't use...

vocal mic to thin out deep voice

mm the mic you're using now is an AT Midnight Blues electret condenser. I'm pretty sure it's not that C4000 or whatever you mentioned. maybe MB4000.

recording drums with ONLY two mics - but which ones????

Hmm, wouldn't you be better off with 3 mics of slightly lesser quality?

    cda. compared to wav.

Nope... there are no actual "files". After all, CD Players are not PC's. They cannot read PC-formatted files. CD-Audio CD's conform to a certain format, which is basically like a streaming WAV. However, it is NOT a normal WAV file that you can just open. It has to be this special format...

Best album in terms of lyrics or allround musically.

weezer. rivers cuomo hasn't written a bad song in his whole life, i'll bet. both the =w= albums, and their new songs, kick ass. there's not a single bad song on any of em. I'd also have to agree with what someone else said about the Carol King: Tapestry album. There are some EXCELLENT songs on...

    An Internet Jam?

I was actually planning to do that with a friend of mine who lives like 400km away... she doesn't really understand MP3's and Wave's though, as she has a Mac. SO it could be hard. But yes, if you wanted to collaborate, I would be interested. I play rock'n'roll guitar (mostly power-pop...

    Lag------>Lag----->lag

haha oh, i'm sorry to tell you this... but... recording a song in 48Khz on the SBLive is the only way to go. It says that right in the help files all over the place: since the SBLive internally converts to 48Khz anyway, then it will add quite a bit of lag if you're recording at anything other...

HELP - Ntrack crashes searching for plugins

Hi, Thanks a lot for the file! I appreciate the effort, that was awesome of you to do that. I followed the technique you said... but, still no go, I'm afraid. Does the same thing still. Sigh... Anyway, I figured a temporary way around the problem: I just moved the file right out of the...
