Hip Hop mix, feedback is appreciated :)

Thanks for the feedback Andrew. Unfortunately this was a two-track I had to mix vocals over. Whereas the other tracks youre hearing on SoundCloud are things I mixed. The 2 track was way bass-heavy in my opinion and muddy, so i eqd it and I tried to accentuate the transients and set the vocals...

Hip Hop mix, feedback is appreciated :)

Hey all.. It's been a very long time (years) since I've recorded or mixed any vox. But this past week I've been learning reaper and loving it.. Any tips/feedback is appreciated. Looking for constructive criticism on mix, the way vocals sit in the mix... overall presence, energy etc.. Let me know...

    Great River NV1 or Mini-me? I'm torn!

ms1b seems too good to be true.. You're comparing it to the john hardy and the rnp and basically to the great river and the mini-me.. Seems crazy.. Have I been out of the loop too long? or are you indeed a crazy person? lol... I mean that with the utmost respect of course. But seriously, I can...

    Great River NV1 or Mini-me? I'm torn!

If any vets could weigh in on this I'd really appreciate it. As of now I'm doing mostly voice over work.. I've heard the Nv1 has gets aggressivve when you push it.. which sounds great for radio imaging stuf.. Anyway, I'm currently using a groove tubes brick and a joemeek vc6q. Both i like for...

    Best Voiceover pre

I've been using a GT brick and the thing is adding a bit too much filth... I need another option and I was aiming for something sterile. The top of the budget is $500. I've read good things a out the DMP and the Studio Projects VTB1.. But they seems so inexpensive, I'm leary. Are they as good...

Studio Projects B3 or CAD M179?

I'm looking to buy 2 mics for stereo location & ambient recording.. I also considered the new stereo MXL V67 but I'd prefer the ability to space them out more. Having switchable patterns is a must, & a roll off is preferred.. I originally thought the way to go would be SDC's but Jon at naiant...

Small Dia. Condensers for Field / SFX

I'm doing field recording with a Sony PCM D50, and I'm interested in picking up a pair of SDC's for recording out and about.. Nature, Sound FX, & everything that makes sound. :) I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an Apogee mini-me or mini-mp, so thats what will power them eventually.. My price...

    Converter Question

Thanks Thanks bro! I've checked this forum alot and have always respected your opinions.. I do a fair amount of soundscape work.. CSI miami & some stuff for MTV/Bunim-murray... So yeah, I definitely want to be sure my sound is best it can be... Are RME/Lucid &others just as good as the apogee?

    Converter Question

I'm not sure which forum category this belongs in... But I read somewhere that the quality of a mic pre is most evident when one upgrades to quality converters, so here I am. :) I use a digi002 and for pre's I use the brick, a joemeek vc6q and of course the onboard 002 (focusrites?).. Anyway...

BLUE mic cables - Blueberry, Cranberry, Kiwi

. Humbuckermusic.com has the kiwi cables for 29.50, cheaper than the cranberries! Jake over there told me they buy them by the boatload & get killer pricing. I have a few of the kiwis.. One died on me, the rest are still kickin and sound good. Good luck.

Tampa Or GT Brick Mic Pre? I'm torn...

. Thanks... Chessrock, yeah, I don't REALLY need a compressor or convertor... But if the mic pre is as nice, then why not get the extra stuff I figured...? But I know in my heart that theres no such thing as a free lunch, so I'm leaning toward the brick... I'd like the option of a tube path...

Tampa Or GT Brick Mic Pre? I'm torn...

M-Audio Tampa or GT Brick? Or feel free to hip me to something else in the same range... I've read beaming reviews of both.. Any useful opinions? I record... 95% Vocals - 5% Live instruments... 90% Male vox - 10% Female... 95% Hip Hop - 5% Rock... Other pres I have here are Joemeek vc6q...
