best pickup for me -- single coil, double coil or humbucker?

Humbuckers and double-coils are the same thing. Just different terms. From what you describe, you want humbuckers.

I put Muy Grandes in my Zion 50 a while back, and I still think they are the best sounding tele pups out there.

Have you seen these guitars yet? May not be a PRS single cut, but people that have ordered one argue that they are better than any PRS or Gibson. Just another alternative if you're looking for something where you want to pick your own color etc...

    Carvin amps . . .

I'm not sure where people get those types of opinions about Carvin amps. They almost always get changed when they hear one for themselves though. I have a Legacy that I wouldn't trade for anything. stu

    Amps

A couple brands you should look at if you're dead set on getting a solid state amp is Carvin and Tech 21. Carvin may be the best bang for your buck around. stu

    Guitars and Amps

You should email Bob at www.eurotubes.com and explain to him the exact tone you are after. He'll set you up with tubes matched to the tone you want. This will be an easy/cheap way to go, you'll be surprised what a retube with quality tubes will do to your amp. stu

I have a couple questions about my new MAudio gear

I was going to use the SB Live card for output because.....hell I don't know I'm just a guitar player = ) I'm new to this and took a guess at what would be best for output. I noticed the plugs from my speakers won't fit the audio inputs on the Audiophile card, so I'll have to get some adapters...
