Yep drivers are up to date. I'll add that the same thing was happening on my old DAW that I just upgraded from last year. The only other variable that I haven't tried is another keyboard. I'll see if I can get ahold of one.

actually the daw interface is a tascam us-2000 so I'm working with more than two inputs. I'll be able to separate every trigger to it's own track. I guess I just need to try it.

Take a look at the Fostex MR-8. I sold mine last year for about $80 because I upgraded to the Zoom R16. The MR-8 had a USB out making it easy to record and dump tracks to my DAW.

Update: I ended up getting the drivers to install correctly. It was a combination of the above "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and disabling all other audio drivers, particularly the HDMI audio drivers. it's all running OK now and I'll be doing some load testing later...
