Hi, my Tascam PortaStudio 424 MKII is not working. It powers up and looks fine, but the transport controls don't work. I press play and there's a faint click, but nothing happens. Same with RW and FF. Is there supposed to be a belt on the black spindle part? The capstan shaft is not spinning...

anybody heard of this? i unscrewed the lid and it says shure on the inside. it sounds like cheaper condneser. is that a old shure mic or something? why dont it say shure on the outside??

i posted samples of a shure a couple weeks ago and nobody asked me to post it someplace else. the pmi prejudice is as bad as the pmi circle-jerk. unhelpful and maybe counterproductive the clip sounds okay, but the mic falls apart in certain places. like the word "meeeeeeee" and the "yyyyyyy"...

re: the mix...... it's clean except there is a little compression on the main voice track i think, and the bass is funkified re: the monitors..... they're event ps6s which i like a lot
