Hey Kristian,
I saw your post about an old AT drum kit.
I recently purchased a kick mic and can't identify it.
Could this be the same mic from your old kit? Do you remember the model numbers or any specs off hand...
If you get a really inexpensive mic stand, or any for that matter, get a small 5 lb sand bag (DIY). They get tipsy when you put a condenser on top of them, especially with the supplied shock mounts.
Wouldn't want it to tip over and spill your coffee. ;)
I wouldn't leave any mics out of their cases either.
My nephew's cat got sent to the farm after it peed in the vents on his dad's new jeep (it was an actual farm, not the proper farm).
Cat's are weird about what they pee on - especially rubber type smells.
I would second this approach.
Omnidirectional mics will pick up 'all around' but using only one would be about the equivalent of laying your head on a pillow and having only one ear.
Using two digital recorders facing away from each other with mics pointed at 180 degrees (maybe a little less...
You're going to want a decent pair of headphones.

These are OK, middle of the road. The M50x is a little better, and you can...
I've been digging the web for about five days now and haven't found anything on this mic, including several forums and an email to Audio-Technica's tech team in the US. Nothing. Nada. Sszzziillltch.
Anyone here able to identify what make and model I have on my hands???
Actually, if you just google "Howard Stern mic" this is the first link that pops up... Speaking of random mics that aren't RE20s, anyone know what this one is???
