    Please Advise: Stereo lavalier choice??

i'm gonna get one or two of these guys i think. http://www.jr.com/audio-technica/pe/AT_ATR35S/ folks over at the hv20 forum really like this mic for talking head stuff and there's a good example clip of how it performs much better than the built-in mic...

    Please Advise: Stereo lavalier choice??

Is there a decent cheap stereo lavalier you can recommend to hook up to my Canon HF10 camcorder to record some talking-head stuff? Could I get a $40 MM-STM1 from Microphone Madness and a 15" cord or something...

which <$400 fw interfaces have the best OSX drivers??

i just sold my M-Audio Firewire410 because I was unsatisfied with the drivers for OSX. I'm curious about the Saffire (which it seems nobody has reviews of yet), or the Presonus Firebox, or the Edirol FA-66 or something in that vein and I'd like to know it's solid in OSX before I decide which...

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

that's interesting to hear a vote for the Eureka (or Presonus over Focusrite Platinum stuff in general). it's a shame the Eureka also has the hidden cost of a $200 A/D card fir the option slot. both this unit and the VMP are suddenly looking more expensive than i had imagined.

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

that is what i shall do then. nothing like that on eBay now though - nor in "completed auctions"... thanks again middleman - sorry for losing my composure- you've been all over this one and i appreciate all the followup info.

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

god damn it - even the VMP needs the frickin $225 option A/D card?! you're right.. i just checked. what a load of crap. i put the list together _because of the digital connectivity and i thought those focusrite units were at the top of the class and here they come with an empty option slot in...

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

sweet. that's good to know about the A/D, although at least with the VMP it's already in there - the twintrak seems like less of a good value now that i factor in another >$200 slot thing for the back. i just got back from GC and i didn't see any of my more familiar ppl working there. the guy...

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

yeah Lemontree- i listened to both those tracks a few days ago, sounds great. too bad about the twintrak - i'm not trying to spend that extra $225 just to give it a spdif out. i'm going to head to GC today and see what the proverbial deal is. ---------- not a big fan of the froogle thing...

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

ahhh.. yeah, i'm _so all about the intimate ballad feel - so I guess using the fancy stuff on the VMP might be the better choice even if it limits me to tracking voice and guitar on separate takes or using mic inputs from something other than the VMP itself. thanks for coming back with the...

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

what's a CO2? yeah, figured Focusrite was a cut above so didn't look at the Prosonus stuff all that closely. seems like folks who've heard/used both mainly prefer the Focusrite where pricepoint is about the same.

    Tampa, VMP, TwinTrak?

thanks! hey guys.. thanks for the input. kenny - hadn't considered the safesound because i wanted something with a spdif so i could use that to get it to my soundcards. looks like a great piece of kit though.. middleman- so i'm leaning towards the TwinTrak now. correct me if you feel...

    i wanna be like mike

well no, not really. but i was listening to this michael jackson quasi-accapella of billie jean, and it left me wondering. is there a technique for recording vox while listening to a tiny bit of backing track so that you don't have to wear cans but it'll get eq'd out or swallowed in the mix...

mic phasing thread for a noob?

so i have a pair of at4033s (not matched though) and i'm trying basic guitar vocal stuff with them. sometimes i track one at a time and and sometimes i do ax and vox with one AT and some pantyhose by my mouth and the other down around the hole- a bit forward toward the neck really. (the guitar...
