    Electric guitar mixing and EQ

Yeah but what confused me was - why do they add an EQ after the amp or amp sim if you can just turn down the bass and middle knobs unless the EQ plugin works differently.

    Electric guitar mixing and EQ

Interesting stuff guys, the things you learn on these forums gotta love it. I was just Playing around with some of Darrell Dimebag presets on amplitube and it's closer to the sound I'm going for. It seems to be going through 2 amps with some delay and some trickery with the signal chain - I...

    Electric guitar mixing and EQ

Yeah I think you're right, I've tried a lot of different combinations and it gets to the point 'Is this what i really want? maybe there's a better sound out there" - I'm gunning for something like Slash or Gary Moore - that kind of general raunchy sound with a 'wah' effect. Amplitube has a lot...

    Electric guitar mixing and EQ

Probably a newb question But when recording electric guitar, why do a lot of people put an EQ in the signal chain? I always thought the bass, middle and treble on the amp (or amp sim) itself is enough. I never know if it's necessary to throw one on especially for distorted guitar. I know the...

    Electric - Guitar Rig 6

Yeah, you'll notice how clean his sound is even when he really distorts it at about 6 minutes in. Not sure if he has any effects going on behind that pedal though? BUt yes that's more the sound I'm going for - a heavier Judas priest, Black Sabbath, Iron maiden type sound but clean.

    Electric - Guitar Rig 6

Hey guys sorry I posted off my phone not sure if the link worked but I'll try again Hey Mickster, headphones mainly but I've listened on monitors and on my phone, all sounds 'dirty' and harsh it's just that it's amplified more on headphones. PS: I also forgot to mention I have the switch on...

    Electric - Guitar Rig 6

Hey guys bit of a noob here. I got a cheap haze guitar online, not sure if its that or my ears (or maybe both) but I'm going for a nice warm round distorted (semi decent studio quality) electric sound but what I'm getting is just too rusty, rough , over the top and unpleasant to listen to. Any...

I was just thinking to myself while I was in the shower. What if.. you recorded a guitar track (mic or direct-in) and then used a ping-pong delay, but set the delay so fast that it almost appears the sound is to the left and right almost simultaneous and giving it a nice wide stereo sound that...

Looks like I have a lot of things to work on then, and you guys have much better ears than me when it comes to picking out these faults. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help, many thanks.

Hey DesertRatt that's interesting. BEEN using studio one and ableton for so long it's kinda hard to let go once you get used to it. Just wondering what you guys think he did here. He's not singing so close to the mic, I was wondering how he managed to get his voice to be so clear. Or perhaps...

Yeah I noticed, was hoping that sound/tone could be recreated using a behringer C1. Though how come they don't get a lot of boominess with the mic aiming inside the sound hole? Or does the clamp mic work differently?

Hey Keith, so maybe not completely useless? I suppose it would depend on the kind of wall it covers and the setup of the room. I couldn't find any of the Owens or Roxul online, will have to do some more research

Hey thanks for the links. I have a few different mics, my older one is CM25 mic that I got with my scarlett 2i2 interface, then I got a Behringer C-1 because I thought it would be a level up (I also have a BM-800, an SM58 and a cheap pencil mic I got for guitar). Judging by my feedback...

You have good ears, I never would've thought about that being a big factor even when listening back through the headphones and always thought it was bad mic placement. Sometimes when I have the mic on with the plugins loaded, you can hear people talking in the kitchen which is in another part of...
