I'm currently restoring a second machine I own and can confirm once you get the bracket for the "hub" off it does indeed spin inside the holder. It had seized up which it also has in the other machine I own too so will have to get back in there to sort those ones as well. Once cleaned like in...
Hi @ecc83 thanks for your reply. So I just disassembled the flywheel assembly block, took off the belt and twisted the capstan shaft by hand and the flywheel spins freely and smoothly. Feels like it's all ok in there. I don't want to have to disassemble much more like the actual capstan shaft...
I have a similar issue going on here. I have two machines that I'm trying to turn into one perfectly running machine. On one of them, the capstan shaft and flywheel can move back and forth (both flywheel and shaft) which likewise to the original poster hadn't caused me an issue previously as I...
I only get signal to the left headphone unless I push the monitor knob down and then I get a signal to both left and right.
I forgot about this and remember now when I used it to record when I had everything set up previously I use to tape it down to record anything that required being mic’ed up.
Edit: I have this same issue, trying to find a replacement pot atm, anyone know the name of the pot for the headphone monitor?
Found out it is this:
Ref no. R421
Parts no. 5282411000
Description: 1S2UVR 12, 20KCX2
Exactly, I cleaned the panels once they were removed, I then used a couple of cans of compressed air to remove dust mainly around the knobs, switches, faders (mind there wasn’t much around the faders) and in and around the PCBs, then the isopropyl alcohol to then clean up stubborn bits of dust...
Exactly as you suggested. There are three settings for the outputs in scarlett mixcontrol, on, off and on again but level attenuation bypassed. I had some off and some on when i tested yesterday. I have now opted for the last option and works perfect.
Re replacing the PCB, that is great news...
Gotcha. One of the reasons I opted for the xlr inputs is because my channel 8 has a missing line in socket, I’ve ordered a replacement input PCB which I wasn’t that keen on replacing as electronics is not my forte, but I guess I’ll have to learn, not sure if soldering will be involved or whether...
Hi sweetbeats
Thanks for getting back to me.
That’s actually a very good shout, something I overlooked.
I use a focusrite scarlett 18i20 1st gen and use a preset in the mixcontrol software called ‘mixing’ and now i come to think of it the last time I had it open the volumes sliders in...
Hi there
I see this is now a 13 year old thread but throwing this out there in the hope some of you still check in here once in a while. I’ve had my M-208 hooked up to my tascam 38 for years now (I was previously recording one channel at a time to tape then bouncing down to logic) but I just...
