Great idea! I've got a ton of other songs and tried something last night from one and it worked great, and suprising how the lyrics seemed to somehow fit!

Thanks for the eq'ing tips everyone, invaluable. I'm thinking I'm going to write a bridge and possibly go back to scratch. If the bridge works out I definately will have to. If not, I may pick this mix back up. Always a dangerous proposition starting from scratch though, sometimes I find you...

I think that's the strumming from the acoustics that's thumping, but it might be part bass as well. Love the arpeggio concept maybe on the chorus or something. I might also try a shaker or something rythmic on the chorus to break pattern. Thanks a million for the advice on panning everything...

No no good stuff, I had been playing with the idea of piano and a synth violen/cellor/strings, so we're on a very similar page. Don't know about the xylophone, but I've never even played one.

Roger on the variations as above. And I'll bring the vox up on mix #2. Seems like I'm always bringing the vox up on mix #2, haha - it must be universally unnatural to hear yourself sing at the proper volume. How would you suggest brightening up the guitars? Just through EQ or via...

Yeah, I had been trying to conceive something for a bridge but never came up with anything, and finally just recorded it as is. I'll keep thinking/trying for a bridge or some other expansion. What kind of layers were you thinking of? Would love to hear your thoughts...

New to the forum and a new home recording...

I think you've done about as much as you can with your equipment. You've got a good sound that seems very contemporary. Keep shopping it around on the side and see what happens. Just don't give up and not do anything! It seems to me music is going through a bad cycle right now with short...

"The Strip" - an updated version

Reminds me of Mark Wahlberg and Steel Dragon in Rock Star. Nice clean mix.

    Now then

Jeff and others are right about this. Cool song, would be better thinned out. I think the doubled vox is a great place to start. One well recorded vocal track could give this a more intimate feel which would lend well to the overall song. I like how the song progresses thoughout - gives a...

Adult Contemporary Pop - Can this be improved?

I'd actually like to hear some reverb on roomier "sarah maclaughlin surfacing-esque" feel. I'm sure others may disagree, perhaps worth a roll though to see how it sounds.

Sure comments on tune or sound. Bring it on!

A quick song/tribute to old dilapidated skyscrapers. I originally tried to make it this analogy in the song to how these buildings are like people, but it never quite took in the lyrics. Regardless - I like this song and wanted to share it and get some mix ideas. My thought is that the bass may...

Something Different, Just for Fun: Milk Cow Blues

I've not heard this song done in a bluegrass/country style before. I think this is the same song done by Robert Johnson. Neat to hear in this style. Wonderful vocal peformance. I enjoyed this.

    Fleetwood Mac Cover (Acoustic)

I'll work on the mic arrangement. I wanted the guiatr to sound kind of dark on this, but looks like that was overdone. Maybe I'll try the condensor on the guitar here. Any tips for a small office. I will dial back the vocal reverb The campire thing - Yeah I see the problem you're talking...
