Greetings,
I haven't replied on this forum in years, but since we have a couple of things in common, I thought I would. I use the new Mac Studio in my new recording setup. I use a Midas M32r as my interface. My original studio included a Yamaha AW4416. During the process of transitioning to...
No problem here. I appreciate this forum and have learned tons just by reading threads over the years. It’s not an issue when tracking and using the main or mix busses coming direct out of the mixer for monitoring. When I’ve tried to monitor out of the daw it’s been an issue. Not terrible just...
That’s cool. We did a couple of albums back in the analog days at large (not Nashville) studios. I started my studio when digital was just getting started with a Roland vs840. Recording to zip discs. Then I jumped to the venerable Yamaha AW4416. A big leap forward when it came out. 16...
Well I have a live sound rig also and do some remote setups for churches so I try to buy gear that can be used for both. Most of the time I record the events as well if there is live music.
It would take several thousand to go thunderbolt. New interface and computer. I’ve been a pc guy since I...
And thus why I haven’t posted in years here. Ridicule runs amuck. If you read the post you would understand that I just monitor out of the mixer not record effects out of the mixer.
Also, no I don’t represent any company or interest. I’m an electrician for a living. The studio is more of a...
Greetings, I've not posted here in several years, but I wanted to hear from the community on something I've jumped headlong into. I have a Midas M32r mixer as my studio interface. Not only for the high channel count, but so that latency would not be an issue. I just monitor straight out of...
Okay guys. Just to follow up on my upgrades. I bought a pair of Adam T5v’s. They sound clean and neutral. Nothing spectacular. The reason I bought them instead of the T7v’s was I got a b stock pair with full warranty for 260 total vs 400. Or 500 for the pair of T7v’s. I figured if I take great...
Speaking as someone who started on standalone recorders - first the Roland line then the Yamaha line - if you can master those and make good recordings with them - then you can master computer based recording. I did several projects on my Yamaha AW4416 - widely considered one of the best of all...
I meant the TV7's. A pair can be had for $500. Like I said, my ultimate goal is to have a pair of high end monitors but that is a couple of years away. Then maybe I won't spend as many hours referencing. I bet the resale on those TV7's would be pretty good with the brand. Thanks very much.
Hey Keith. I do have and use the Klanghelm VUMT. I says the peaks are at -0.2 on its rms meter and about -8 to -10 average. You said I'm over dbfs in many spots? Does the vumt not show those? Do I need a different meter?
I know I'm crushing it and I am going to go back to the beginning...
I have treated my room myself. My approach like I suspect many home studio enthusiasts is more deadening of sound waves than reflections. No I cannot spend 6 to 10k to have my room professionally engineered and treated. I know that is not what you are suggesting, but I have heard that on many...
Thanks for that. You are right. I try to get mixes loud. To -.2. I will remix it as you suggest. That is all real harmony by my son. Stacked and panned.
Here is a couple of things my son and I did this week
Please criticize the mixes, but try to be constructive. Things like - terrible mix or - the worst mix I've ever heard don't help me to get better. I know many of you make your living in music. I do not and have no aspirations to. I'm...
