    Tascam 244 Story…

Only from memory, IIRC the 244 belt is 12.5"-12/7" total length. Somewhere in the archives of this forum I'd have put the more certain, exact measurements, but that's the best I can recall ATM.

Nostalgic about reel decks I sold

Hey there, Track Rat! Those recordings come up on my shuffle-play every so often. Seasoned over time, I'm not sure they all hold up, but (to me) some hold up well and are true gems. By now they are certified legacy recordings. I shudder to think that set of discs was published 20 years ago! I...

Nostalgic about reel decks I sold

Sometime later, I had a chance to buy a Studer A800mkIII for $6k, but I passed. Wanting it, yeah, but I think I was coming to my senses by then. Quadrupling my operating cost, not having room or wanting to buy another slew of gear to run at pro levels were considerations. I guess I could have...

How Can I run 2 FireWire Interfaces at the same time.

I'm curious how you can use Firewire at all anymore, as it was obsoleted on Windows 10. I have a Tascam FireOne that I never got full use out of before obsolescence hit. And where do you get the hardware interface that has a Firewire port? It's like if I wanted to dip my foot in the pool again...

Nostalgic about reel decks I sold

Hello! I have a Peavey T-40 bass, gently used that lived most of it's life in the OHSC, and yes,... it weighs a ton. It was the first bass I ever got, in 1982 or 83. It's in amazingly well kept condition. Several years ago I did a college rock band performance with the T-40, and it was picking...

Got a Brand new TSR-8 today

Congratulations on your new purchase. Seems quite rare. It should be tip-top with a minimum of maintenance. As well as the belt and verifying the lube in the solenoids hasn't hardened, I believe the R/P levels will need to be trimmed up after so many years, but that would be common and expected...

Nostalgic about reel decks I sold

32 34B A8LR Model 20 Model 80 I sold them at low dollar amounts before the big analog bubble, but only after refurbishing and calibrating each one over many man-hours of labor. The in-person demos were demonstrably tight. The buyers were very happy. It's not that I wished I'd charged more...

    Tascam M520 Story...

The M520 is a big step up from the 388 mixer section. Make sure it includes the power supply and power umbilical cable.

MIXING 101--Need Help mixing with my Tascam M30

The M30 is a relatively simple mixer, but can be patched in a number of ways. You'll have to improvise a bit, because it doesn't have a dedicated "this" section or "that" section, but what it has is a fairly open architecture that's meant to be flexible.

Did we all see the new Tascam Model 24 (16) ?

It looks highly functional, all-in-one, but for some reason they don't call it Portastudio. Probably just market positioning to keep in on the Pro side of things. Looks like a Portastudio to me! @@

TEAC of America in Montebello, CA, is No More!

I don't know if they closed operations or moved, but the last time I drove through LA, I wondered why I never saw the TEAC sign, which is at least 100ft up in the air, above the freeway. Next day I drove through again, and I noticed it said "EMPIRE Cleaning Supplies". The building had been...

    I have a brand new 388 R/P head.

I hear about this mythical thing. Heard of but never seen. I'm the one in this magical land (LA) who has captured the Unicorn. I bought it many years ago from another user here, Wildflower Soul. It's in a box, somewhere with a bunch of other stuff.

    Nothing technical to add.

Just stopping in for a minute to say hi to my friends and brothers (& occasional analog galpal).

The 8-channel, 4-buss, Fostex cassette multitracker

The Fostex 460. Rare & hardly seen. Not a bad looking unit, FWIW. I'll stop short of calling it a Portastudio, (Tascam trademark). :spank::eek:;)
