I know its been a while since your last post regarding the Tascam 688, but I was wondering if you could answer a question. I have also recently changed the belt on my 688. All went well, but I had not first noticed the nature of the 3 screws (exploded view 3 - SHAFT;A ) that hold down the transport section to the bracket. It appears that these 3 screws are designed to simply attach the transport section without securing it in place. That job seems to be accomplished by the 2 transport cavity screws only, and no other fasteners. Is this correct? Have I missed something? I am ready to plug it in and turn it on but I would like to be sure about this.
