Just for fun I went and put together my dream signal chain. I don't know much about any of these items. I've never owned or even seen them in person. But they are sweet.... Feel free to post your favorite pieces. Christmas is coming and we can always ask - though we will never receive them.... :D

I'll do mine for guitar...

Great Room > Great player (me...hehehe) > Gibson Les Paul > Mesa DR > 4x12 Recto Cab >

Royer R-121 & SM57 > GR MP-500NV & Pacifica > Distressor > RME FF800

Also, I would have a Little Labs Red Eye in there so I could get a direct recording of the guitar so I could reamp through the following:

Soldano SLO prototype
Peavey JSX
Custom Built Tube amp

Blend to taste and then double track whatever was recorded and reamp again.


I made it to where it's realistic. Why dream of something you can't get. This stuff, I can get, already have, or plan to buy.

Wood everywhere. Not a single smooth (besides the floor) or paralel surface in sight. It would cetainly open up a few more mic'ing possibilities compared to the basement. :D

I'd probably be tempted to use maybe one or two close mics, with about 100 tracks of room mics. PZM's on the floor and ceiling. One on the statue of David's nose. :D Reference mics in the hallway, and few binaural dummies in completely random locations, just for good measure.
