Treating small bedroom

Hey Everyone.

I started a topic in another area wanting to upgrade an interface and the thread was pretty informative. The suggestions lead me to start by treating a small bedroom in my home, which I plan to use for tracking and mixing hip-hop. My knowledge on acoustics is quite limited, so while I continue to research I decided to reach out to HR as well.

One issue is, I can't decide on how much of a budget I should set on treating this room. Realistically I wouldn't want to spend over $300 on treatment. I plan on buying a new mic and monitors too.

About this room:
To be used for tracking and mixing hip-hop
Area of Room is about 88.2sqft
One Window and A closet.
Carpet 'carpet all over the house minus kitchen :( '
I rent this home
The slap echo in this room isn't too bad, but noticeable. I get very little feedback in this room just from clapping my hands, of course it isn't anything I would want to mix in as is.

Also I have some old foam I had set up a while ago, how much use could I get of this?

A floor diagram would work a lot better than a bunch of undimensioned photos. The foam - not much good.
For $300 you can build a bunch of bass traps (rockwool, 4" thick), 1x4 framing, cloth covered. Search this forum and youtube for how-tos.
Read the 'Small Room Acoustics' sticky thread in this section of the forum.
