does anyone here have any good soundproofing expierence or can recommend any books?

Im talking baout soundproofing here, not acoustic treatment :-)

That's a tough one. "Soundproofing" can get expensive VERY fast. And really, I don't think total soundproofing is really possible within a reasonable budget. Limiting the leakage of sound, yes. But totally proofing? Not so much.

What are you trying to contain?

You may check into this...

This is a publication from the Gypsum Association of America. It assigns STC ratings to various configurations of drywall construction.

Here's some info on masonry walls

Hope that helps a bit...

Are you trying to stop sound from getting out or getting in? Somethings are harder to treat for than others- for instance, if your studio is in a basement and you are trying to eliminate the sound of kids running around on the floor above, I say that's quite a task. If you are trying to keep your band to a muffled roar so the people next door dont call the cops when you play in the middle of the night, thats more manageable...

You'll get lots of help around here. :)

"Recording Studio Design" by Newell and "Build it Like the Pros" by Rod Gervais. Also go stop by the John Sayers forum...tons of great information there.
