reheasal space + mixing room=bad?

A friend set up control/mixing room in a basement spare bedroom, but also rehearses with his duo band in there. So half of the room is drums/instruments, the other half is monitors/computers/gear rack, etc. Of course mixing and rehearsing never occurs simultaneously but still, is this just a bad scenario for mixing purpose? The room is small (13x14x8) and carpeted but treated with traps and sound blankets.

are you asking this in terms of suggesting things for him or just expanding your knowledge? but with bass traps and absorption panels then it wont be that bad unless the instruments are literally everywhere. Cant you move most of them out?

There's nothing inherently wrong with using the room for rehearsing and mixing. So long as the room is acoustically friendly, there should be no problems for mixing.
