Mackie cr3

Hey all!
Does anyone have Mackie CR3 here? I am planning to get one as it is right on my budget but i got lots of review on Amazon that it overheats and stops working after couple of months. I want to know if any of you have faced the similar problems??
I want to invest on some decent low budget studio monitor which is durable as well as serves well.

any other recommendations?

I can't imagine small monitor speakers overheating to the point of being unsafe or unreliable. But 3" monitors are lousy for mixing because they have no low end. Per the Mackie spec, the low frequency they handle is 80Hz (and they don't say how many dB is lost at that point). 80Hz is about the low E on a guitar - so anything lower than that (bass, kick drum) you will only hear the harmonic frequencies of.
Do yourself a favor and use headphones while you save up for better speakers.
