Rigid foam insulation panels. Any size, any thickness. 10 cents/sq ft and up.

if this is rigid fiberglass, what thickness would you recommend?

If I'm not mistaken, rigid foam is closed cell polyisocyanurate or similar, used for refrigeration work. (I used to work for a refrigeration contractor). It would be lousy as acoustic treatment.

You may want to call and find out for sure.

$0.02

Right on, foam insulation is closed cell. Absolutely worthless for acoustic anything. What you want is either semi-rigid fiberglas, fiberglas duct board, rockwool, mineral wool, slag wool, Fire rock, Knauf board, 700 series Owens Corning, and possibly a few others. If you can't blow through it (with some difficulty), walk away from it... Steve
