Great site on Studio Construction

hi bigkahuna - I didn't know you put up a topic on it so I did - are you using netscape to get the studio plans up? I pinched the javascript of a porno page where they were showing different ,,,,,,

By the way - the link you put up bypasses the main page that gives you to option of Internet Explorer or Netscape. The front page address is
http://www.lis.net.au/~johnsay/Acoustics

Hey - I've suddenly become a senior member!!

What do you mean "and the best part is ... it's not Auralex.com"? I don't see how anyone interested in studio construction would say something like that. Do you have any idea the value of the information they give away? The information I learned from them is priceless. I just don't get what you meant by that. Newbies might see what you wrote and be turned away from auralex because of that, think of what someone might miss out on.

I guess it was supposed to be funny since each and every Q&A about studio construction on this BBS usually includes a link to www.auralex.com somewhere. I have a very good idea of the value of information in Acoustics 101.
What I meant was that it's nice to have another url to give out ... as this info is hard to come by online. Auralex is a great resource for this kind of stuff. I didn't mean any harm ... which is what I thought the little winky-smiley guy was supposed to signify. I guess I was wrong.
I don't, however, think any 'newbies' would avoid the site because of what I typed. That's just argumentative. The assumption that someone (newbie or otherwise) would avoid something just based on what someone on a BBS says is insulting. I don't think people are that stupid. If anything, I would expect most people to have gone to Auralex (if they seriously thought I was dissing it) and them come back and tell me that I was full of shit. To which I would have responded ... "It was a joke ... lighten up." :)

BTW, John ... I just made it back to check out the other plans ... very nice.
Thanks!

(PS, congrats on the senior member status ;) )

Sometimes it's just a little hard to decifer what that smiley face is all about. I took what you said wrong and I appologize, I was wrong.
I feel like such a bastard now :(

Hey Guys - I'm not competing with Auralex.com these guys know what they are doing it's just that I show you how to build your own as opposed to buying theirs!

No biggie, Brian ... it's all good. Don't feel like a bastard!

I never meant to imply that auralex was anything but a great resource. I'm just not as funny as I think I am, sometimes. :)

What's the deal with this senior stats thing? I just became a member the other day, mainly because I never knew about this site (it probably could have helped me get to where I am a bit quicker). Is there a number that once you pass it you become a "senior"? Or does someone say, "this guy knows what he's talking about, let's make him a senior..."? I'm just curious.

BigKahuna

Thanx again for the link. Car will be out
of garage in one week. Going down now to straighten out more and the equipment will
be coming home some time this week. I should
do a before and after but I may only get the
before; who knows what tomorrow may bring?

Yeah. I think it's after 50 posts you become a Sr. member.
at 5 million you can be a Grand Exalted Poobah. Hahaha

I have to say-I've learned a few tircks on here from some people, who definitely know what's going on. ;)

Gee... I can't wait till I get up around 40... I'll get a little tear in my eye when I see it go from just regular street-dirt-member, to super duper Senior Member... Ok, maybe not, because chances are I havn't helped anyone yet, and I won't by then.
